Micro switch fault on outer door handle help

The driver's door window on my 4200 is slow to drop (3cm) when opening using the outer door handle and I am suspicious of the micro switch, after following the excellent guidance from Loz (http://www.sportsmaserati.co.uk/showthread.php/348-4200-GranSport-Doorcard-Removal ) on removing the door card, I still cannot access or remove the outer door handle to inspect the micro switch.

I managed to loosen a couple (2) of the nuts holding on the handle but cannot reach/identify the others holding it in place. So was hoping someone may have some experience or guidance on getting at the micro switch on the outer door handle. (I seem so close, yet so far away!)

I must thank the knowledgeable experts on this forum; it is an enormous source of really useful information, so thank you.

Hi James,

Is it equally slow to drop on the inner door release? Also slow to rise on either? Lazy lifter mechanisms aren't uncommon, so it may be this rather than the micro-switch.

The lifter is prone to water dripping down between the glass and the window rubber that then collects and rusts around the pivots.

The switch is an on-off affair and obviously working to drop the window at all. If you have the door card off, spray some grease into the pivot points on the lifter. Can't do any harm.

Hi Miles,
Great idea and I'll spray some grease into the pivot points but I did notice the inner door release is much quicker, as soon as you start to move the level the window drops, also you hear the micro switch click as you open the inner lever, whereas on the outer door handle, nothing happens when you lift the handle until you start to pull the door open and I do not hear any click of the micro switch when lifting the door handle, (leading to my belief it is a faulty switch).

The windows seems to rises quickly after shutting the door, so not sure it is a lazy mechanism.

I did try to take some photos of the inside of the door handle by putting my phone inside the panel, but it did not work very well :-(

Thank you Miles.

Many thanks Miles, I had not seen this thread.

Have to confess, I am still confused about how you get the outer door handle off; it may have to be a garage visit :-(.
