Memory Seat Repair & Seat Base Removal

I fixed the seat back on my car the first week I had it but the memory function has never worked on the driver’s side.

To get to the switches you need to remove the seat base. To do so you need to remove the two plastic pins from the white plastic clips and then lever the clips out of the frame. There is one screw in the side panel at the front that needs to come out too.

Then the wiring needs to be removed from its retaining clips and disconnected. You can know lift the front of the base up and pull it forward. Mine was very stiff but did come out eventually.

Once the base is out there are two screws (2 rusty brackets) and one little circlip (rusty pin) to remove and the side panel comes off.

The memory switch panel just pushes out upwards. It was pretty easy and may be possible to remove without doing any of this.

The switch will separate and I found the contacts were corroded so cleaned up and put back together.

Fingers crossed that it’ll now work. Also fixed the heated seat switch on the other side that was sticking.

Good job. Water drips on them from the roof which would probably cause the corrosion.

Anyone know if it is possible to add memory functionality to the passenger seat and, if so, what would be required? Thanks.

Was wondering about loom requirements - the passenger side has one block connector whereas the driver's side has two. Was passenger memory an option? Don't know and only ever seen a blanking plate - was thinking maybe, or rather hoping, simply adding the switch panel would work.

No idea at all but would be slightly surprised if another module and loom was needed. The LHD cars have memory. Of course it may be that the module can only support one memory and the loom goes to the correct side.

Each seat has its own ecu in the seat back. IIRC the memory ones are blue. The standard ones green.

If you’ve got memory on your driver’s and a blue module in your passenger’s you could try the switch panel from the driver’s side and see if it does anything. I reckon if you’ve got really small hands you can pop the switches out (upwards) without removing the trim panel.

Thanks Oneball - appreciate the photo & info. Didn't know there were different modules. Which may well be the answer. Fingers crossed.

This is a 3200 don’t know if the later cars are the same.
Thanks. Parts diagrams show numerous shared components, with the same part numbers, between models. Eg. the easy entry module.
Whereas, the respective memory modules have different part numbers and both diagrams refer to pilot side only.
Can't see any reference to each side having it's own module. Nor a different module either. Hmmm - the plot thickens.
Most likely going to be trial & error and see what works - if anything. Got some spare parts to play about with when time allows.

In past experience the parts diagrams show where there are LHD and RHD differences but nothing mentioned for these. I also had a quick look and I think the “memory” module is also used when the seat has heating so it maybe there in a heated passenger seat that doesn’t have memory. Didn’t notice the diags on Eurospares being piloti specific.

The non-memory module remembers the position for the easy entry. I can’t remember, does passenger side have easy entry?

Think heated seats were an option? Maybe driver's side memory was too.
My passenger is heated but no memory hence the question. Worse case = no change.
Thanks again for the help.

I think on the 3200 the option was heated seats and driver’s memory, they came together.

If the control module is located in the seat - worst case is just buy a LHD seat with the memory function and swap the components. If you succeed Navcorr let us know!

Quite, have read that sometimes the module is in the door panel.
Have already got a set of LHD Spyder seats which I intend to strip down to recolour. I can certainly try the driver seat as is.
Part of the process is to swap the bases around. So may as well add the passenger side memory function if it can be done.
The overall plan is to have a pristine set ready to go in whenever the avorio gets beyond tarting up.
Each time I swap over I can take my time to refurb properly.
Will update but it's going to be time dependant.
