Probably old news to some but I have discovered that the ignition on and three pedal pump is unnecessary for a smooth MCShift drive away when cold or general restarts. All I now do is leave the ignition on until most of the lights have gone out, then start the car and all is well.
I suspect that this time is for the clutch to carry out some calibration, and pumping the accelletor is a bit of a placebo that makes you wait long enough for the lights to go out, so has the same effect.
Hope this is helpful for some of you!
