MC20 used bargain or not review.

I used to really enjoy Seen Through Glass in the 595 Comp and early 4C days and still listen to his pod casts with the Gravelly Cars sales fella.

However, when I hear tem lauding a Porsche engine tone and taking free Jags and praising them to the hilt I start to take it all with a pinch of salt I'm afraid. Especially when more experienced motoring journalists have covered the MC20 in more informed detail.

I think I bore a lot people here on Maserati prices pointing out people wanting to sell high and then in their next post hoping their new toy can be bought cheaply.

I really want a MC20 and will buy one but am content to wait a long time as I hope they hold their prices as we need Maserati to build Halo cars we all aspire to buying one day.

My issue as Matt here says the Stradale ( two seater is the one to have for long term value) is a keeper and my Ghibli Cup is too and the latter isn't the sweatest sounding car I've got even compared to the Alfa 75 (ok that ones a bit of a non runner atm) or even my 595.

To me the UK is a bit of Maserati price basket case now and the truer reflection of their value is in the euro zone.

Maserati itself is the thing that impacts prices in the UK. If however any politician can cause GT prices to drop further they will get my vote!

Well, it's happened. The MC20 has hit £125k retail:

Downsides: It's low spec and (comparatively) high mileage (12k)
Upsides: Graypaul car with 2 year Maserati warranty

Terrific value for someone not bothered about spec!
When I configured an MC20 online, I decided I didn't need any of the optional extras. The basic spec is way more than necessary anyway, as I don't want or need overpriced carbon fripperies.
Judging by this it won't be long before these have a trade value starting below £100k. Rachel Reeves will see to it.

Agree Ewan and when you see just how much those carbon exterior and interior options are I struggle to understand why anyone would spec them as a I bet it adds hardly anything to resale.

The carbon exterior package adds about 10% to the resale value of them. Nothing compared to their cost however it is worth seeking a car with it as it will likely retain that 10% proportional uplift and be easier to dispose of when the time comes. The same is true of most high end supercars. A Ferrari, for example, will not sell easily without Scuderia shields and carbon fibre driving zone, a Lambo needs the raw carbon and so on. In fact, many Ferrari main dealers won't retail a car without certain options as they just don't shift.

I can't see these every going below 100k retail, even in 3 or 4 years and 25k miles. It's just too good and special a thing to do what a Granturismo does. Look at the MC Stradale as a comparable. they have been £50-75k for years and years because they are special and low volume etc etc.

Agree, if you find one fully loaded with those carbon extras someone has taken a massive hit already. Although for me I really don’t like that rear carbon spoiler thingy and looks better painted but they are different rear valance looks better in carbon and shiny.

These are very special cars but with the Stradale Maserati produced 497 two seater world wide so is considered a limited edition while they have made 1244 MC20 already. Currently in the UK we have 18 MC20 for sale and there is only 1 two seater Stradale. Although in the UK in 2024 there were 53 MC20’s on UK roads against 63 in 2023. Who knows where the price of an MC20 will go and in theory they should never drop below 100k but I’m not sure in the current climate. I remember when the GT came out and how amazing it looked and though they will never be at the same level of older Maserati and now the cheapest on AT in 13k. These cars do not deserve to have such low prices in the UK.

Like a lot of us I check daily comparing the UK with France for myself.
I'd say this car could be brought up to scratch looking at the MOT history but has probably been run on a shoestring since being maintained by the Dealer.

True enough about higher spec cars selling for a little bit more. I just wouldn’t pay it myself, as to me “higher” spec is actually lower spec as I don’t particularly like carbon fibre trim. It’s all a bit “last year” and Halfords.

Only 40 2 seat Strads in the U.K., so way more rare than the MC 20. I paid £50k for mine about 4 years ago. Would be about the same now. For any Strad to start with a 6 now it would have to be very and special low mileage, and from a dealer with full support, warranty, etc.
