Maserati Theft?

Has anyone heard of (or have any experience of) the technology that forces you to type in a sequence of buttons on the steering wheel, to start the car? Obviously you need to turn the key too, but the engine won't start unless the sequence is right. I think that's how it works anyway.
Yes, there is a company in the Manchester area called Miglior Detailing (you can find them on f/b) that do specialise in this sort of security amongst other things ...they also do errr .... car detailing - a lot of high end stuff, especially Bentleys, Audis and Porsches.

Had an Audi S4 a few years ago, got stolen off our drive in the middle of the night by 5 rather unpleasant individuals. They didn't leave when I shouted at them so I had to watch them steal the car. From what I have seen from similar incidents CCTV is ineffective, does nothing to stop them. They have balaclavas on and to be honest being able to see them stealing your hard earned car over and over again does nothing but upset you. Blocking in high value targets is also a waste of time. I have seen countless examples of the thieves simply smashing the window on the car that is blocking their escape and pushing it out of the way, in some cases leaving it in the middle of the road.

Its sad I know but any car buying decision I make now has appeal to thieves high up on the list. I use diskloks on all my vehicles but ultimately if they want your car there is little you can do to stop them.

Peugeot use to have this years ago it was on my 405 company car it drove me mad
I remember this on countless Phase 1 306's I had as company cars as a Field Engineer. Good system really to give a kind of two factor authentication. Not sure whey they don't introduce two factor authentication back.

That is true , generally it's only the real low lives looking for a getaway car that will go to that extent, with the amount of unprotected keyless cars about and the lesser sentence of TWOC rather that breaking in with the risk of meeting a nutter on the stairs they'll usually go for the easy target.

Thankfully RHD Mustang thefts aren't that common but I still do all I can to prevent it rather than just rely on the pitiful security provided by Ford
The 2019 models have the option to switch keyless entry off , something I'm hoping will be available in a software update for my car

I’ve thought about this but am concerned that if someone really wants the car, they will break in and drag me or another family member out of the house to put in the required code
They would not know it was fitted and when you couldn't start it either you can turn and say "well it is Italian. What did you expect? The neighbours have a nice Range Rover you know!
