So you fancy yourself in a 4-door Maserati ?, well your choice is slightly limited, you either get the option of a GranTurismo which is not a contender being a 2-door Coupe, the GranCabrio again not fitting the bill, or the Quattroporte.

Now the Quattroporte is an excellent car, but perhaps either abit too big, and maybe just out of your price range. You think your stuck, but fear not as a Motor Trend reports that a baby version of the Quattroporte will be available sometime around 2015.

With Maserati's plans to enter more mainstream markets, the exotic auto manufacturer is set to expand its range with a challenger aimed at the BMW 5 series. Rumour also suggests that the new arrival could be all-wheel drive and more eco-friendly.

Starting price should be around the $68,000 mark, with the base model slightly more subtle than Maserati is used to. I look forward to seeing a new rival to the 5 Series, and as long as Maserati keeps their beautiful styling and intoxicating exhaust note I,m sure they will do well.

Its not stacking up too well for me. I am considering offing the GranSport in 12 months. I will have £50k to spend, that means a GT 4.2 which does not float my boat, the 4.7 that I cant afford and a 4 year wait for the baby QP, oh what a to do!

The QP is too big and not the car for me and Alfa dont produce anything at present.

I need a 2 door, 4 (proper) seat coupe with a V6 or V8, and Italian soul!

I could bank the cash and buy a £10k 3200 and ride it out for a few years. I mean, how far can a 3200 drop in 3 years, £5k?

Its looking like a GT 4.2, but I recon they are going to drop like a stone once they hit 5 years old.

Just my thoughts, exept the "have to spend 50K" part i am afraid.

The 3200GT's are quite stable here, so a 3200GTstill seems to be a good investment indeed.
Only thing is, there are increasing numbers of bad maintained ones pulling at those stable prices in the last months.
People who buy the badge with theire last money and don't want to spend any money on maintenance, then dump the car as soon as the first problems pop up....
But still, if you want to buy a real good one, it takes some time and money to find one around here.

Hum, I know what you mean Andy, but a £50k Maser, how far will that drop in 3 years, £10k tops I recon, the factory wont be able to meet demand if its half decent.....oh, 4.2 Fezzer lump and a soundtrack to die for....it will stack up very well.

PS. Sorry, I have been in the pub all night, hick-up!!!!!!

Yes Matt...everything pointing in the right direction...Just needs to look drop dead stunning....Surely they will then have the sector beaten. Oh they just need to work on people reliability perception to. Even bloody Clarkson on Sunday said it would fall to bits in a year....we all knoe this is no longer true but one comment like that sticks in the uniformed minds.

Al i can say matt is try a quattroporte, had a ride in Enzo's over the weekend , and admit to being totally surprised at how sure footed the car was , and every bit as torquey as the gransport , completely allayed my fears that it might of been a bit wallowy because of its weight , it certainly isnt a real surprise for me , and could tempt me to get one for Kaz once she finishes her long distance travelling and has taken a post more local

Well, I sat in Pauls QP at Ace a few months back and really liked it, its just I am a 2 door coupe man, not a 4 door saloon, I dont know if that will make sense to you, but it does to me.
