The latest issue (172) of Auto Italia carries articles on the Dino 246 v 250F, Gran Turismo MC Trofeo, and QP GT-S. Worth a look.

The Dino 246 was the 1st car I fell in love with.
in 1972 I wagged off college to go to london to see a girlfriend & went to the motor show at earls court. I sat in one on the ferrari stand & was speachless.
It was only 7400 Quid.
I dont think I owned more than 7 quid at any one time back then. how much would a 72 dino set you back today.

that was one unforgetable week for me back then.
I talked about that car all week & when I got back to Brum The girlfriend in london called to say her mum had won 365,000 on the pools that weekend. I asked if she would ask her mum to buy me the dino, she came back & said that her mum would.
I walked around in a daze for days untill the wedneday when she phone back to say it was a mistake, her mum only won 3.65.
Imagine how deppresing this was for a 17 year old.
it completely ruined our relationship & had me in therapy for years.
I only thank god that I was too broke to go down to the pub the night she told me that her mother was going to buy it for me.
I would have had to top myself rather that face the embarrasment, well thats what my dad said at the time.

Folks

Just to clarify, this is a back-to-back comparison of the 250F and 246 GP cars from the 50's/60's rather than the 246 road car.

There was one for sale a year ago for 165k

Quite a few actually.......as a 500 car limited run production car, only sold to "die-hard" Alfisti, at one time the were about 10 of the UK registered cars for sale with a 10-40K premium.............the recession soon put an end to that!

For me the 250f is the most beautiful Grand Prix car of all time and seeing in next to the Ferrari in the article it still is.

Good read this month with GTS one of the highlights...

I'm glad you can see the humour Frank, I suppose one day I may too. Tell me, from a proffesional point of view, does this qualify as a deprived childhood???.

Not quite Rob as your aspiration was patently off the scale..........deprived childhood usually means, beaten frequently, no food at bed time, holes in shoes etc.......get the gist?
