Why?????...Because the M3 I posted up in the other section was 6k and the 3200 is 8k and not hit the reserve yet...Plus from my experience with both the M3 was cheaper to run.......;-.

But sying all that a lovely car and if reserve is low...Under 9500 its a great buy...

Lovely colour but looks better with tan inside. It also looks great on a spyder!;)

Yes, I did buy a M3 (e46) and it was alright for a bit. In the end it just wasn't my cup of tea and decided a I needed a 4-door (access to child seat). I also didn't like the M-differential which just seemed to make the rear end sway under heavy acceleration (I'm used to the back end stepping out of line). Lovely engine though and it even had a TV. Anyway, I sold it and now in search of an RS4 Avant - I've been here there and everywhere (I even went to a car auction).

But then this advert popped up and that made me start looking at Masers (QPs) again! I miss the GS - has to be one of the best cars out there for the money...

Adam, I went to Nottingham BCA in the week a few weeks ago. I have heard that 'top cars' is where the trade try and dispose of cars to unsuspecting private buyers which they can't shift/not upto scratch... Last few weeks I've started to feel like Arthur Daley. From what I've seen go through the auctions - auction price + fees (looking at £900 on a ~ £20k car if you aren't a trader) pretty much = private sale price after a bit of negociation. I'm now best mates with the Crewe Audi Service dept as I've checked out the history of so many cars!

Interestingly, there are two 08 plate QPs going through BCA next week - both low miles (~14k) - probably out of my budget - I might start a thread in case anyone is interested.

Dicky, it looks like you're on the hunt for another GS - any luck?

I was scared 2 years ago when i got mine but no regrets!!
Whats your budget??
You have to drive a 3200 then the 4200 to know because they are different cars...
The 4200 is reliablr but a good 3200 is bout 12k now and better looks....

Spend a long time driving, from manual to autos and budget 3k a year for running....
Indie inspection is all you need of you dont know what to look out for....
Welcome to the forum.....

I reckon that if you are going to try and run one on a shoestring then you may well be better off with a 4200 manual. 4200 engine and electrics probably more reliable than the 3200 and a manual clutch is probably longer lasting than a CC clutch. Spyders more expensive than similar coupes. Be prepared for the occasional big bill but enjoy living the dream. BTW Nick, welcome to the madness!
