Mad or just optimistic? Some advice please.

I have decided to drive my 3200 GT down to southern Italy to Ostuni in Puglia. Being an optimist I see this being a fantastic couple of weeks of using the car as intended in the country of it's birth. Not wanting to rely purely on luck the car is currently at Giallo for a full service, checking the front wishbones (which I am told are okay), fitting the Forum discs and most expensively sorting out the ABS ECU issues (hopefully!)

The question - I need to consider what others want to do on this trip, it has therefore transpired that I will only have a short day to spend in Modena and was wondering what you guys feel I MUST DO while I am there. Any thoughts /advice?

You might usefully take a few broken wishbones and take them into reception at Maserati HQ...

I was thinking more of potential sites to visit or at least get some pictures! I leave on Thursday - I could take a petition, not sure I will have the space for sets of wishbones!!

Yes, I realised that really :)

Pannini Museum was worth a visit in my opinion.

I liked the M factory tour and visited Pagani. They also have a tour around their facilities.

Panini is brilliant, museo do Enzo Ferrari was a highlight. Bologna is great, go to the the Fontana Di Netuno to see the original trident, lots to do there for non car people. If you can fit it into your route try and take a little detour to the Amalfi Coast, stunning roads and view....

Wish I was going now

Don't forget the Lamborghini Museum..too

Regarding your old 3200GT, just give it full death all the way down there and back.. it won't even notice..

Done it lots of times, there a joy to drive fast!

Given that you'll need to stop at the front gates of the Ferrari factory for the obligatory photo, go for lunch at the Cavallino restaurant opposite. It's the usual hang-out for the Ferrari bosses, team drivers, etc.

You could also fly by the Candini Maserati garage as they always have all sorts of interesting cars under restoration. I think the website is Candinimodena.com.

For me I would go to the Casa Di Enzo, Lamborghini museum and if you have time the Panini Museum (very hard to get access as only on pre-arranged plans).

As for your car, check all hoses too, I just did a run down to Le Mans (over 1100) miles and it was great but last week it burst a hose which had it gone in Le Mans would have been pretty bloody gutting!

Excellent idea. It's what the cars are made for. It was just short of 3000 miles when we went. Just remember to take all your driving in Europe bits and bobs.
