Lovely Gransport for sale

GranSports and Maseratis in general don't do well on CC. The 2004 low mileage black GS only achieved £16.5k. With 'high mileage' I don't have much hope for a decent result for this car.

That seller is better off selling via a dealer on SoR or private sale at £18k - the mileage is the drag factor from getting a better price.

The other thing, which may go against the CC car is the higher tax (road fund licence) bracket.

I know it shouldn't be an issue, but if people are on a budget, they probably shouldn't be buying a Maserati in the first place, and will want a car with tax at a fraction of what this will be.

Sold for £14,200 - so £14,900 with fees. I was tempted, but it actually sold for more than I expected.

I bid too but at that price I think the miles need to be lower. Perfectly good at that mileage but still higher than most GS.

A good GS at under £15k - what a bargain. I can’t recall ever seeing one sell for less than that. But selling on such an auction site is just a way of getting a car sold, rather than for the best price.

I’ve seen them for less (through auctions).

abidk - if it’s any consolation there’s nothing to say you would’ve got it for the next bid, or the one after that, or the next one…..

£13.5k plus fees was around what I wanted to pay too, though to caveat this I was only interested on a whim and wasn’t really looking to buy another one…. so would’ve only been interested at a great price. I think the reserve was £13k.

There was no reserve. I thought it would go for £15k all in which is about what it did. It’s an £19950 retail car tops, when it’s been serviced, inspected and prepped.

At one point it said “reserve lowered”, which I took to mean there was a reserve initially. I also got an email to say the reserve had been lowered. It changed to “no reserve” once it got to around £13k.

Correct. It’s like when people start something on eBay at £10k, with massive letters underneath stating ‘NO RESERVE’. No reserve now that it’s reached my reserve ;)

Collecting Cars put huge pressure on sellers to reduce or remove any reserve. They’re only interested in selling, they don’t care what the hammer price is. When I put my GS through them a couple of years ago I refused to lower my reserve despite calls and emails which started 2-3 days before the auction end. I’m very glad I did as I later sold the car for £5k more than the highest CC bid. Maseratis just don’t ever seem to achieve a decent price on CC whereas any Porsche of any description appear to attract crazy demand and bids.

It does seem to be unkind to Maseratis...they make alot "run of the mill" tat look special.
Its a difficult sell for anyone knowing these cars, and for those who know only a certain reputation. With no prior inspection it s a bit of a gamble...but these GS offer a whole lot more car for the money than a Ford or a VW imo...and in many cases, a Porker too, which can come with a host of hidden horros lurking under the skin....
To you guys talking like £13K was too high..Yeah- I see it since you put it in context..but to complain about it being too rich @ £16.5K for a beautiful GS with 25K miles on it seems like utter pigheadedness...!?!>
Its becoming clearer that CC is a pushy selling platform to the extent that it borders on the unscrupulous...Money first, second, and third...
