Another classic from that epoch, Richard Harris in This Sporting Life, Wakefield Trinity rugby player, look at his face, and look at the face of the actor who played Legatov in the recent Chernobyl, it's his son, Jared Harris, I'd never seen him in anything but the likeness is amazing as you'd expect...

Ahh yes, a very good shout Navcorr and yes loved the film

All the shots where Russell Crowe visits the Notaire's office and drives around in circles in his Smart car, plus the restaurant where Fanny works were shot in Gordes, a beautiful "Village Perche" set high up with fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. The scene where they watch an outdoor film by the lake is in a tiny village called Cucuron close to my Gite, where the lake is actually a small man made "basin" with the water covered in leaves from the trees surrounding it most of the time. The film crew spent some time and money tarting it up for the film and even gave the local restaurants a free makeover to make them look more chintsy. They had to fake the thunderstorm with hoses and added lighting and sound effects post-production.

Cucuron remains a tourist hotspot many years since the film, but I can recommend the Duck with Dauphinoise potatoes for just €14. Cheap gastronomic heaven and place is at its best either side of the season in May or late September.

Been reading back on this thread, I think you made a good move. Like you I love rural France and the way of life I think you just have to make sure you have enough to do which clearly you have more than enough. Hats off to you.
