It looks like Maserati have made the right decision building the Levante

I've just read on Pistonheads Bentley are bringing out a diesel version of their Bentley Bentayga at 30k less than the W12, still over 130k but I bet Land Rover are a bit worried.

Apparently Bentley are kicking continentals off the production line because they can't build the 162k Bentayga fast enough, 3,300 so far

If Maserati sales are anything like that it should mean a stable future and possibly more niche cars being developed

I understand that UK dealers have already sold all their near term allocation from Maserati. They aren't able to get enough of them to satisfy demand

I don't think any of this will worry Land Rover... Don't they sell in much bigger numbers than Bentley or the Maserati 4x4 and they have a very loyal customer base. For Lots if you want a 4x4 only a Land/Range Rover will do. They have such a big range as well.

Good to see it doing well as it may give them an opportunity to make a Sports car of some sorts.

Saw the Bentley in Bristol the other week....That is one ugly car...Horrid.

This is good news and you are right about the Bentley...............whatever possessed them to go with that design? Someone definitely had a senior moment there

I had a look inside a Levante at the Battle Proms at Blenheim Palace a few weeks back, the interior is nice - very similar to the Ghibli. So not at all shabby but definitely feels on a different level to the QP and GT. Needless to say I had a good poke around all the cars they had on the stand grinning from ear to ear. The saleswoman I was chatting to was as giddy about it as I was which was a laugh.

My only gripe is the way they've done the trident. It's nowhere near as nice as the ones on the other models, looks a bit cheap to me - the grill is where my eye is drawn so it's a bit spoiled by the trident problem :/.

Glad to hear its selling well, at least for the pre-orders.

The trident is an issue I think. Its one that all manufacturers are having now that they are fitting all of these driver assists. I saw a new XC90 today with a similarly plastic looking badge on the front housing camera and radar.

If you can get one without the driver aids evidently it does have a proper trident but good look with that.

The only concern I have is that with it selling so well in diesel will that mean that they won't feel a need bring the petrol S over here anymore? I'm not in the market at the moment but we are looking to move in the next couple of years, probably further out in the countryside so a 4x4 maybe necessary. I really don't want to only have the choice of a diesel.

That looks like the same car that was at the Great Yorkshire Show. They wouldn't start it up at the GYS because it wasn't a diesel ;)
