Have they said anything about RHD?

Interesting who they chose to do the launch they’re obviously aiming at a far trendier demographic than us lot.
It’s safe to say they are not aiming the car on the SM demographic! I’d estimate that at least 80% of the Masers on here to be worth less £25k each, so as a group we are hardly their target audience.
And how many “old” people want a low car that’s tricky to get in and out of that does 0-60 in under 3 secs? Not enough. So you need to appeal to a younger and more affluent audience.
Certainly, when I was more agile (in my thirties) and driving Lambos, that was when an MC20 would have been a good proposition for me. I can see some wealthy young Bloggers, Vloggers, Inflencers and other young techies loving this car, and I hope they do.

I was trying to avoid saying “old”!

I'll be the exception to the rule.

As yet, I'm not wowed. V6
Yes it'll be quick, but then McLaren use a V8, Ferrari use a V8, Lambo use a V10, I can't think of a Supercar that uses a V6.

As for the looks, I'm thinking Alfa 4C, crossed with a Noble M500.

The doors for me are a bit silly. Maserati's aren't about being all 'showy'.
They're about being beautiful with an awesome noise.

Jury is out for me. I will need to see one in the flesh.

Maserati have always done things a little different so the number of cylinders doesn't both me, it clearly doesn't need any more based on the performance they have got out of this new engine
Good to see the forward thinking of already being set up for a cabrio and for inevitable electrification too. Good point made about the doors and the wide sill for the carbon tub, it definitely makes access easier and I don't mind the doors - it's already a look at me car anyway, like all supercars are, so why not? They look good on the i8 after all and when I drove one of those, they certainly aided in the access.
Having slept on it, I'm still excited and looking forward to seeing one and taking one for a spin as soon as they are in the UK next year

You buy one and if you don't like it, I'll take it off your hands. Just buy a yellow one with yellow calipers please, not fussed about the wheels or interior as long as its not the blue.

I'm part way with you; I don't dislike the car, it does look the part and reflects modern tastes, but whilst I'm quite happy with my V6 QP a V8 in the MC20 would certainly add to the theatre. Something like this would be luvverly:

Time will tell if the MC20 can poach trade from the opposition.

I love it personally, especially the styling. I think it's awesome for the brand and will help the appeal of all our cars going forward. V6 isn't an issue either, Maserati are just the first, Fezza and Mcl will be having to transition to V6 in the next-gen anyway. I think the V6 could sound lovely as well

I’m kinda feeling this too.
I think it’s a good looking car (nothing we haven’t seen before style wise) and the doors etc add to the theatre imo....but I no longer think I’m the one to buy it.
My days of a 2 seat- pure sports car/ no practicality are over.
Fact.
I wish them well but the only thing that would entice me is a fab 2+2 with theatre or a vastly improved 4x4.
How Maseratiattract new money, I don’t know, but I suspect it’ll be the make or break.

Maserati Italy have called me this morning to confirm my details and to gauge my feedback on the presentation. They told me that my UK dealership will be in touch in the coming days with UK launch details, pricing etc, so let's see

From Goodwood.Com:

To UK spec with carbon brakes, the MC20 will cost £187,230 on the road – or £20k more than the McLaren GT which Maserati has set its sights on, along with the Lamborghini Huracan.

To put that into context, Audi dealers will sell you a new RWD V10 R8 for £104k. Sure it might not suit many but the price differential is huge.

I guess it all depends on how many options it 'needs' compared with the £40k+ that most people put into a mid-engined Ferrari - apparently if you don't have the hand painted shields that look like they were done at a Primary School or the carbon fibre this and that then your car is worthless.

The Ferrari comes with the 7 year service plan and a pretty much guaranteed depreciation curve, sometime that the 911 offers as well - mind I can't get my brain round paying £50/55k for a 2012 991 when you can have a new 992 for £90k but that's the market and people are happy with it. I think the Maser will be a hard sell but they probably are not needing to sell many as it's more a marketing exercise for the next generation of £70-120k stuff that's coming.

Good point. When my Maser went in for a service a few months back the driver was telling me that the Lambos appeal to a much younger audience that mid engined Ferraris looking at their demographic.

It will be interesting to see how many SM posters buy this car but I doubt you would need more than one hand to count them.

I can't think of a Supercar that uses a V6.

The latest Ford GT is also a V6 TT. And a very similar weight, so arguably one of its closest competitors. The Ford trumps it on HP, but when you look at the cost the Maser looks cheap in comparison.

Looks really great to me. Lots of the Maserati styling cues, and I especially like the trident vents on the rear screen. In terms of the platform it has all the ingredients to be great, will be very interested to see some reviews once the press get hold of one.
I’m not rich enough to buy one, but if my numbers come up I’d order one in a heartbeat. I’ll take mine in Bianco Fuji with blue carbon.

Forgot about the Ford GT. But isn't the GT a very limited numbers car and, well, it's Ford.

Would you want the comparison of an evocative name like Maserati to be in the same breath as a Ford?
