Good Morning boys and girls ,

Sometimes when cold and maybe after a spell of non use my 3200 is a tad "missy" - have traced this to code p0326 knock sensor bank 1 , I believe it is in the "V" under the plenum - anyone changed one themselves and is it a pain to do ?

thanks

My M5 does the same and I seem to remember the 3200 did as well. As Dem said goes when warmed up.

Beware water leaks form many pipes in the Vee of engine. Understand these can take out sensors.
Can be done at home, if you are careful I am advised. Not done it but would take it on if it saved hundreds on fiddly labour charges. Get diagnosis first if possible.
Had pipe in this area changed during clutch / rear wishbone work. Just prevention in my case.

Thanks for input guys , It does go when warm and as I am not in the habbit of giving the car any beans till then it is not a major problem . As you correctly state RS water leaks can affect this sensor - I have not had any issues with coolant loss - just think it is down to low usage - need some better days to get out and about !

cheers

Wasn't there a recall for excessive noise on start-up or is that my senility playing tricks?

Hi Saintetienne, At my most recent service the only error code on checking with the SD2 was one of the knock sensors, so I've ordered 2 from Eurospares (may as well change both at the same time) and plan to get round to it when I've a chance. There's a post on the running reports and technical fixes section on changing the 3200 starter motor here:

http://www.sportsmaserati.co.uk/showthread.php/377-3200-Starter-Motor

...that tells you (almost) how to get down to the bottom of the 'V' where they sit. If I get round to it any time soon I'll take pics and do the obligatory 'how-to'
