Hi all.

Update.
Unfortunately this mechanic having used him for a simple gasket replacement hasn't been the postive experience I was expecting after the initial contact last January.
Just one problem after another.
List is quite extensive.
So based on my more recent experience I would not recommend him in anyway.
Didn't want to have to change my thread but I wouldn't want anyone else to have the negative experience I had.

Wish he was a bit closer, my car's been at a well known garage for 3.5 months now for a simple clutch change!
That's what you get for going to a well-known place! Like Yogi said...no one goes there anymore, it's too crowded!

Interesting that as I did a search and couldn't find anything other than a window tint company.

Yeah. There's a JK Automotive in Maidenhead. Google the number and the first (and pretty much only relevant hit) is this thread.
Nothing on Companies House either

There is a JK Automotive on FB in Northampton. Appear to do the odd Porsche and run of the mill stuff.

There are no Maserati / Ferrari on their page.

Appear to have a garage on Tweed Road (for those that don’t know it, if you get to the scrap yard, you’ve gone too far).

That is not to say they are not good mechanics, and they seem to do some in depth stuff like mechatronics on DSG gearboxes, but M and F car specialists they are not.

Well found. FB didn't show me that one :)

Hi

Yes it's the guy in Northampton.
Just started up his own business.
He worked for porsche for 15 years.
Does a handful of maserati and has a customer with a ferrari which he looks after.

If anyone is unsure just ring the number or check Facebook. Alot on there.
He could have easily done work that didn't need doing but was honest.

I got and mot advisory. Was quoted £3300 to supply and fit rear drop arms bushes or something. Maserati do it all as a kit so hence ridiculously expensive quote.
( different company in Northampton)
Kevin gave me a competitive price and I said go ahead. He called over to fit all the parts. On starting the job he rang me and said that all the parts were good and didn't need changing and he wasn't comfortable doing it as it wasn't necessary.
He could have easily done the work and I would have been none the wiser.
Needless to say I will not ne returning to the company who mot the car. Who on the face of it at least seem to have been a little enthusiastic with the mot on my car.
I also had the car check over by Mcgrath last January and had done hardly any miles in it.
No mention of this with them either.

So to sum up an honest guy just trying to get a business going.

Thanks for the update, Jim, good to know, I'm based just outside Bedford, so this may well work for me
