Karl - what was the total cost of going down the KW coilover route?
The KW coilovers were about $5000 AUD at that time. They have prices on there website. Add in a wheel alignment as well.

They are made to order and took about 8 weeks to arrive from Germany.

I fitted them myself so there was no labour cost involved apart from the alignment.

back to the original topic, it turns out the JE GS and DadB9 have just done a YouTube channel switcheroo.

Obviously space for 4 adults wasn’t that important and so I still feel he’s gone with what people still think about Maserati’s being not very good (and wouldn’t get the views he wanted). Shame.

But he was surprised about the MPG on the GS yet surely a V12 ain’t going to improve that stat ?

V12's are renowned for their frugality lol

The GS is a perfect car for Ben and Jay has done him a huge solid with that deal. Of course the DB9 will make for good content before he inevitably buys a DBS.

3 niggles, but he still loves the Maserati. Sounds awesome as well!

Not ‘like a grumpy ***** with Tourette’s’ then(?) … At least that’s what I heard at one point, in respect of the F1 system. Quite a well balanced review of the good and the not so good, using the Aston DB9 as a benchmark … Well, what more could you expect, they’re so very different cars?!

I'm slightly surprised he didn't get above 20 mpg out of it on a road trip, but then I'm making some assumptions about roads, conditions and driving style. I know it's not a direct comparison but my Maserati 3200 does about 15 mpg on my typical mixed urban / B road driving, but on a road trip - at motorway cruising speeds around the national speed limit - I get nearly 27 mpg. I find that level of fuel consumption very acceptable in a performance GT car doing its thing, but then I don't drive around with 4 adults in it and a load of luggage! Jay Emm's expectations seem a bit unrealistic to me ... Anyway, I hope someone will get a good Gransport off him at a fair price, after Sports Italia have been through it.
I've never got more than 21mpg out of my 4200GT, even when driving economically with the aircon off. From memory, the 3200 is considerably more economical.

The price point difference is much bigger than I thought, circa £40k, that's a huge chunk even now, nevermind back then!

Sticky plastics are just part of their charm lol

Astons are well.... well their an Aston. One day maybe .....

Yes, a fairer comparison would be a 2009 Granturismo S Auto.

The Gransport has everything stacked against it in the comparison - V12, better quality interior, newer, etc. But it’s still the most fun out of both of them.

Just over 21.5 on the 550+mile motorway run from German/Czech boarder to Blighty in the Spyder - sadly roof was up most of the way as conditions were damp but driven like that he was a very comfortable tourer.
