Wow, what a warm, speedy group of replies. Many thanks for your kind welcoming words. I will look at the various events to meet up and enjoy endless chat about Maseratis (it'll give my wife a break from listening to me drone on about them!).
I popped up to Graypaul in Nottingham a couple of weeks ago, to meet the seller of what is now my car (it was in for a small repair as the drivers window was playing up). What an array of cars they had, (including a Ferrari Enzo, in the showroom, and ne in the workshop) and such an immaculately clean workshop - it was like an operating theatre, but with more space, less gore and sexier shapes to look at).
Before Graypaul became part of the Sytner group I used to visit the showroom in Loughborough to peer throught he windows as a boy. I worked in Loughborough at one time and the highlight of my day was driving into work past the showroom. There were some traffic lights in front of the showroom. I used to hope they would be on red every morning, to allow me more 'ogling-time' before work.

Hi David and a warm welcome to the forum that wants to make friends, whether you like it or not! :) No doubt you've already got a flavour of how things work! It was bad enough before, but Andrea has gone and made things a whole lot more interesting bless her! :)

As Andrew has mentioned, we have a meeting next week in Rugby if you're up for it? Also I've taking the liberty of provisionally including you in the Graypaul gathering?

By the way, am I right to assume you're in Cossington? If so then you're just over Beacon Hill from me. I'm in Shepshed. Dave (DaveTaylor) is in Luffbro and John (alfamaserman) is over the way in Rutland, plus we have Andrew, Rob, Roger and others not too far distant.

I liked your story above as I did exactly the same thing myself when Graypaul were in Luffbro. I have that scraggy little showroom to thank for planting the Maserati seed. By the way, one of the ex-Luffbro guys left Graypaul when they relocated and has set up a Ferrari / Maserati Indi. You may already be aware, but I can give you contact details if you want to check them out. Dave, John and Andrew (amongst others?) have used him also.

Cheers, Miles.

When I mentioned red lights and ogling, I didn't mean....err. Anyway.

Emtee,
I have noted one or two of you close by. I look forward to meeting up with you, in the near future. I might struggle for the Rugby meet, but hope to get along to Graypaul. Once the date is known I can set about organising my homelife around it (adding up brownie points etc).
One of the crucial ingredients behind getting the Mas. was the expansion of Shiltech in Loughborough to take on Mas. servicing etc., rather than having to travel forty or so miles to the next nearest indi. I had a PPI done by Shiltech for ths car and know they are highly regarded by the Ferrari community for quite a distance around.

Hi David, so far it looks as though the Graypaul Open Day is settling on the 16th subject to Andrea's confirmation.

By the way I'm intrigued. Your car looks like an '05 facelift model rather than an '04? Larger grill and different grill 'mesh'.

Glad you're aware of Shiltech and I hope you've been pleased with their service and facilities.

Cheers, Miles.

That would make sense P given the 54 plate, though I'm surprised it got made, delivered and registered within late '04?

Not really......they actually made the year 05 cars from that date......same for most car companies.....I believe.

Yes, it is an '05 facelift' model. For your info, it was first registered in September 04.
Having read the various threads and discussions on here, I was chuffed to find a facelift model. The upgrades, the slightly changed front and rear, all helped make it the 'right car' for me. I'd looked seriously at 4200s last year, but decided against, for numerous, varied reasons. On holiday in Kent earlier this year, I saw a couple of black ones and it re-ignited the option (along with the recent presence of a local, respected indi). First week back from holiday, there was a black facelift model advertised 7 miles away. Fate? Hmmm.

I am toying with changing the front grille to a mesh version, a la GS, although having bought the car, I quite like the horizontal slats.
