I think you are flogging a dead horse btw AG. I am also having the same Dilemma and have considered selling the 3200 for a GT. Common sense got the better of me and I decided to keep one of the 32's AND go on the lookout for a GT as well! :D

456 does nothing for me whatsoever. Bland and uninspiring!

For once I agree with you! I always disliked the 456 - looks to me like a kit car that's pretending to be a Ferrari. The wheels look like something from Halfords!

If in a similar predicament and with no need for four seats, I'd totally dismiss the GT.

A nice used F-Type V6 S would be an option, provided used ones over there in the UK are within budget at the moment.

Failing that, an Aston Vantage. Had one for a weekend. Enough performance and so much presence and style.

My GT is my daily. To be honest you just get used to the size and I go everywhere in it. Multi storey car parks, London narrow streets. You name it I go down it.

You just adapt your driving to suit.

Everyone now a days needs reversing cameras, parking sensors, auto hill brakes etc. What about the days when we had none of these and you used your skill and experience to manoeuvre?

IMHO 'bland and uninspiring' could easily be replaced with 'understated and elegant' which is precisely what the 456 is. Their prices are not rising as stupidly fast as other Ferraris, though that may just be a matter of time.

There's no comparison for me in driving pleasure between my GS and the my DB9, the GS is so chuckable whereas the DB9 is an out and GT, for crossing continents and still arriving fresh..

The 456 has risen as fast as any Fezza recently. My mate could not give his manual away 2 years ago and offered it to me for £15k when I bought the manual 32. Do I regret not buying? No not at all as I had more fun in the 3200.

The 456 could easy be confused with the Pinninfarini styled Peugeot 406 Coupe.

Wouldn't disagree on the looks. It still need to find its time, but having driven one....what an engine....what a sound. Flawed diamond as far as I'm concerned.

What about a classic 68 fastback manual mustang..
Covers all the bases except cornering ability.
Properly set up they sound epic.

Have that problem now.
I drive a V60 with all the nany aids (front and rear park sensors, camera, auto brake, etc)
Then when I'm on holidays I drive an old V40 that is bigger and has none of those aids and I end up looking like an idiot manouvering it in the first days.
After a few days I'm proficient again :)

I have to agree, specially the M version with the manual gearbox.
If I trade the 3200, I will try to trade it with a 456M.

Prices are rising tough .... When I started looking at the 3200 the 456 was considerably cheaper.

Regarding the wheels, the same can be said of most other Ferrari models :)

Thank you, so it isn't just me. I have been looking at classic Mustangs. The GT car prices have now gone stratospheric and the unloved notchbacks are now bringing the same money as the fastbacks were bringing only 3 years ago. The Eleanor thing has sent most of the attractive Mustangs way out of my budget. Very few fastbacks are available in the UK that don't need lots of money spending on them within my means. I could however, fall in love with a 71 Mach 1. :)

I can assure you that I am quite capable of driving and parking a car. With the greatest of respect, if you had read the earlier posts then you would realise that you have totally missed my point. Thanks anyway.

Always loved the understated image of the 456, a very capable machine with out screaming look at me.

Had my GTS a week and the size of the car was the thing that stopped me buying one sooner.

Have to say it doesn't feel like a big car when you are driving it and once you get used to it parking is fine.

Love it!

Sorry. I wasn't questioning your driving ability.

I was purely stating that you and everyone else would just adapt to the size quite quickly and the way it drives and how difficult it is to manoeuvre slowly (because it is difficult).

And that all the new nanny features all the modern cars now have make us all feel that we can't survive without them - which I don't believe to be true as again one adapts to the situation with practice.

Hence my conclusion was that you would adapt to it after time and so I don't believe the size should hold you back. Unless of course you need to fit it in a garage and the car is too big to fit in!!

I don't believe I have missed the point as I did read the thread from start to finish.

You think the GT is bad, try driving a Golf GTi and parking that with no ABS etc. You need arms like Arnie that's for sure!!
