Is this Ferarrichat thread the most ridiculous one ever on a car forum?

The actual title is “Where to keep a small pistol on an F8?” Not surprisingly, it has been asked by an American.
One of the replies was
“I once had a compartment added to my roof liner.

No one ever looks up, and moving your arms up looks defensive or like your surrendering.

That was a long time ago, but it was effective.”

I dread to think what they meant by “effective”.

I thought it was a joke when I first read it. It’s absolutely ridiculous but I love this line “ A cross body shoulder holster is still the gold standard for seated carry”

Here in the UK Carwow does the water bottle test. They do the pistol test. Madness.

As an American, I can laugh in disbelief with the rest of you. There is a certain segment of the population with a perpetual “security mindset”, perceiving threats within and without.
And some of this group obsessed about being “ready”, for whatever situation is causing them anxiety. In the US, the groupthink solution is a personal firearm. A second tier of this is the “prepper” movement with massive stockpiles of emergency supplies and equipment to prepare for the end times.
Highly recommend the book “Prius or Pickup” by Marc Hetherington to understand how these mindsets have evolved and, in recent years polarized and hardened.
All that said.. if you’re some pompous *** in an F8 and scared to venture into the world without a sidearm… looks like all that wealth is only bringing you fear and anxiety of losing your material tokens of worth. Time to reevaluate your life.

its no good having any type of weapon if you have neither the ability or the intent to use one. All that happens is it becomes a handy weapon store for those who do.

To me it’s on a par with wanting to send a text message from your car’s touchscreen and probably significantly less dangerous.

I don't see how you can expect to kill a horde of ANTIFA terrorists (and numerous bystanders) with a Glock 43 with only a 6-shot magazine.

You really have to find space for an MP-5 somewhere.

frankly i'm surprised why no one hasn't invented some sort of pop out pistol holder in the USA, rather like the pop out cup holders ;)

It's okay, Amazon will sell you this for your centre console ...with spare magazines.

You can't. Root issue here is that humans are essentially bad at estimating risk. I mean we're really good at it in some senses, but utterly terrible in others.
As an example more people died after 9-11 because they chose to not get on a plane (and drive) than died in the 9-11 attacks. Emotionally we can understand. Logically it makes zero sense.

If you genuinely think that you're going to get attacked at every stop sign, emotionally, then the fact that you have never been attacked actually has very little impact. And if all your pals keep going on about it (pals is critical here) then you are more and more likely to believe it's going to happen and prepare for it

They have :)
