I still think the Coupe looks fresh in it design....Like them..Designed by Chris Bangle of BMW fame....

Coupe is a fantastic car for the money if you get a good one. Not as stylish as the Gtv but a very underrated car in my humble opinion.

Still see quite a few around including a light purple metallic one near me. Looks the dogs!

There's a yellow and red one around my way.......Finding a good one is hard these days......You can pick them up for £800 if you are brave.

Remeber the Coupe was shed of the week on PH a few weeks back, people were saying they were not the most reliable car in the world, i bet the 20V Turbo was quick. I would fancy an old Punto GT and drop a 20V turbo engine in it, be such a laugh.

Or buy a Coupe and have something far more stylish Adam ..... You could get a great one for a couple of grand and they are bloody quick against the sort of stuff you can buy for the same money.

Good coupe is 3k! Love them but just think the the GTV is the better car, looks, sound, prestige.....would have a coupe but only a turbo and around 1k!!

Think I would have the Coupe over a twin spark GTV though Dem.....I had a twin spark GTV and it was not a quick car..Beautiful balance but wouldn't set the world alight.......Fiat Coupes can be expensive to service especially when it comes to the belts...You can not get at the things and I believe...but don't quote me...its almost and engine out job..

With you on that....i can a twin spark also for a year and it was slow....
Coupe over that but rather a V6 one than the turbo coupe!!

GTV V6 is worth it for the engine alone Dem...Then you add the pretty body and its a no brainer.

A GTV without the aerokit is so sexy.....never liked the spoiler...had the kit on my twin spark....

When deciding between gtv twin or coupe i went for the gtv as i liled the looks more and was rarer....should have gone for the coupe as it was a slow car but it might have never given me the chance to go and buy the V6 so no regrets....

Agree on aero kit...So early 90's that rear spoiler.....Just prefer the clean lines without..As intended....

i had both of mine parked up....and looking at them made me realise that without the kit the boot line looked better...loved my V6 as you know, would love it back.......

i went on PH and even though i love black i think on the coupe it looks dated in black....

has to be bright colours as the dash has the same colour......

850coupearriere.jpghmm- that's an interesting conversation in itself.

Comes down to two things I think (for me anyway) as they use the same chassis.

FIAT inherently the budget brand, made a career out of smaller capacity motors beefed up by turbocharging/ Alfa, the sporty brand, had a line in V6 24V larger capacity "pedigree" motors. The cars split depending on whether you want engine charisma (Alfa) or balls-out bhp through technical know-how (FIAT).

Secondly, lovely as the GTV is, it never, nearly looks like it might be related to this attached shot

this is a series 3 850 coupe by FIAT and the modern Coupe as we are discussing here, is an amalgam of Italian car details from the past 40 years- "kick-up" rear arches ala Gandini ;QP Series 4/Lamborghini (whatever), the centre clock in the dash; all current Masers and so on.

Every now and again I get very close to buying an 850; I was in e-mail contact with Tony Castle-Miller at Middle Barton about it last year, but you couldn't do ANYTHING in them nowadays, not in this country anyway, whereas the modern Coupe offers real-world useability and 150 mph.

Sorry- this is going a bit off topic! To pull back;

As for reliability; I've owned; a Marea 5 cyl 20v, a Bravo 5cyl 20v HGT, a Coupe 5cyl 20v, a Bravo 5cyl 20v "155 20v HGT" (series 2) and a Coupe 5cyl 20v Turbo.

So five cars with the same engine (Coupe 20VT had turbo, OK...) and the Marea was the best chassis out of the lot and I never had an engine issue with any of them.

that I can remember anyway...!
