Intro for Duncan

Following my baptism of fire, I thought that I'd take the trouble to formally introduce myself.

I have been a classic car enthusist for many years, owning my first Jensen the mid 1980s. It was a green Jensen Healey, which I drove around for a few years before stripping it down for restoration. I started acquiring parts for it by buying up other failed projects and funding this madness by selling the parts which I didn't need. I am pleased to say that I now have all the parts to complete the job!

My interest in Jensens expanded when I bought my first Jensen Interceptor - which was missing a few parts, so I bought another - and so on. Then FFs and C-V8s and a couple of GTs.

I was down at an auction one day planning to bid on an Interceptor when I spotted a 1989 Biturbo Spyder with a full Bill McGrath service history. This was knocked down to me - so my interest in Maserati was sparked. I picked up an '87 4 door for parts and sold what I didn't need.

Then I bought a car trailer to collect cars with and a Ford Explorer to tow it with and then the engine broke so I took it apart and fixed it. Then I bought a Ford Explorer for parts and started a business fixing Ford Explorers.

Then I saw and advert on eBay for a black Maserati 3200GTA, with the tag 'would consider a 4x4, cash either way'. I'd had just bought a black Ford Explorer, so I drove it over to the vendor and we did a deal - so that was my 3rd Maserati.

Then a Ghibli came up on a salvage site, so I bought that - and a Quattroporte IV for spares. Then a crashed 4200 Spyder for spares. So that's 4, 5 and 6.

I love driving all of my Maseratis and my Jensens for that matter - and then my 1987 Porshce 911 3.2 Carrerra is fun too.

I have a small workshop in Aylesbury, where I do what I can to keep my classic cars on the road whilst at the same time repairing Ford Explorers and customer's classics cars from time to time.

Good luck with selling the parts advertised.

Great to hear from one of those guys who helps to keep old cars going.

Sad to note the number of cars that get crushed for no real reason when there are all those bits which could keep a guys pride and joy going...I have real problems at times with my Golf, body bits are so hard to find in good condition...just wish I had the skills and space to work on a car. Tried it once but as I needed it again the following Monday I ended up buying in skills to fix it rather than keep trying to get the parts to fit myself..

Echo what the others say, cool intro. You have (or have owned) some of my favorite cars in terms of Jensens. I still hanker after a Healey and they're so affordable (though usually needing lots of work) Saw a black one at last years classic car show at the NEC, it was a mint job and I spent soem time talking about it with the owner.
You are living the dream as when younger I used to get salvage cars as a cheap (and sometimes fun) way of geting nice cars. Kids and the associated responsibility are the focus for a while and getting older doesn't help, so god knows what I'll be like at the other end when there's time to tinker. But at least you're doing it now. Well played Guv'nor.
