OK
MOT is done
still thinking about Warranty
so had a jolly (not) afternoon trawling the comparison sites.
I ended up with a result though!
Prices ranged from £279 to >£800
So I plumped for Aviva at £279 via Quidco and get £60 Cashback
This Cashback expires in 8 hours so I took it now and the new insurance starts on 1st March and I get the cashback mid March. A net payment then of £219 (I paid £225 with Admiral last year). Apparently Admiral automatically renew unless you tell them not to so it is in my diary
8000 miles annual and £1050 excess (which is a bit steep I know). So something else for the war chest!
Incidentally the .£800 was with Saga and most were around the £320 mark for my circumstances. So insurance has gone up again this last year.

My insurance was just over 800 quid.
However, that's probably because I have zero no claims bonus (on that car). The excess is 800 quid as well.

That was the best quote by miles! Adrian Flux (who insure my Merc) was nearly 3 grand!!!!!

What......mine was £420 again with no no claims but I got an introductory full no claims for 6k miles per year.

Bridle Insurance...was recommended by RG.

I obviously live in a rough area! Lol.
Still it was cheaper than the Merc!

Oh. I forgot to mention. I've also only recently got rid of 9 points off of my licence.

That'll do it, I insured a 240bhp Impreza for £250, when I changed to a 85bhp 1.2 golf it went up £60

I assume you're insuring your 4200 as a daily driver rather than a modern classic

I have a mate with a Mk2 escort, zetec engine , mega squirt , spins the wheels in 3rd gear but he insures it fully comp for £140

I'd have thought having the points removed would lower it, but I managed to only get 6 at any one time :)

.

I used to worry about the Excess and searched around the get the best balance of premium to excess but I've come to the realisation the amount of excess is irrelevant, I'm never going to claim on my policy anyway for car park bumps and if, God forbid, I ever total the car I'll have bigger things to worry about than the excess.

Rental cars are another matter. I take out an annual rental car excess policy because most rental companies are charging EUR €1,000 excesses and frankly I just don't trust the barstewards.

That's all very well until you are involved in an accident and it is 50:50, in order to claim on your insurance you will have to pay the excess to start the repair ball rolling. I never understood massive excesses.

Gosh, those insurance prices are dreamy!!
Mine cost me slightly over £1000, after shopping around, w a 7 yr no claim but thats prob due to living in central London, and that this is my only car.

I found a £800 one but that required to fit a black box... LoL. That thought made me smile.

Just renewed mine a few weeks back. £265 with agreed value, euro breakdown etc. Well pleased with that.
