Insurance Churchill - quattroporte GTS

Hi,

Is anyone else here insured with Churchill?
I keep trying to get my documents to say Sports GTS or even GTS so they don’t try and replace it with “just” a 4.7 if the worst were to happen?

What are peoples experiences with other insurers? Am I making a big deal out of nothing?

Their first years quote was very good, and their renewal is 40% lower!
Thanks,
Dom

The registration will be linked to the model type so I wouldn't worry about it.

It's probably just a limitation on their system to prevent "fat finger" typing errors...

I’ve had the same problem currently with (Churchill) as Insurance document states 4.2 GT?
I usually use compare the market (Car/bike/house) & every quote that came up on my registration states my car as a GT & not GTS.
I questioned this for the obvious reasons but couldn’t get a definitive answer.

I’ve been with Churchill a couple of years now. They’re pretty efficient and their renewal prices have always been good. The have a good online portal where you can make adjustments etc which is easy to use and save a phone que.

Thanks both, that’s reassuring to hear.
Their quotes for me are pretty unbeatable: £550 for a 37 year old living in London seems incredible value.

Are these agreed value policies, or will they pay out market value? Either way I guess it’s to do with the model names being more confusing than they need to be and it’s known for cars to be registered with the wrong model - coupes being spyders etc.

If I understand it right, it’s a Quattroporte Sport GT S, out of interest what does it say on your V5?

As for the GT, they are all Granturismos. Some of them are Granturismo S regularly shortened to GTS here. If your docs say 4.2 instead of 4.7 that would be a big deal to me and I’d want it sorted. There were no 4.2 Granturismo S.

Try AIB insurance - the forum sponsor

I have both my cars insured with them and they are cheaper than all of the usual suspects.

The V5 has the correct model designation.
No it’s not agreed value, but they do ask you the value as per all quotations I think.

unless it is agreed value you will get market value. Good luck explaining that your Sport GT S is significantly more rare and therefore expensive. Better have the conversation now I reckon.

Not sure you’ll get an agreed value on something as recent. Took me ages to get someone to do agreed value on my 147, and that’s 17 years old now.
Maybe there is some specialist insurers but the price will be high.
Certainly the mainstream providers don’t do it.

Worst case scenario is wbac valuation I guess. Followed by a bun fight.
Maybe provide sold prices from dicky’s most recent sales from his site?
The only one for sale now is 45k, they wouldn’t offer you that!

WBAC has them at £22,500… sure you won’t buy the £45k one, but dicky had them at 30-35k for similar cars. I paid £30k for mine so given the type of car and it not being a typical WBAC candidate I think that’s pretty close

Clearly 22.5k is too low, even trade price unless you have moon miles or your car is a mess.
Is that adjusted for miles too?

I have agreed value on my car, at 10 years old. That’s through Lockton.

I have recently left AIB because they are >30% over priced, and point blank dont entertain an agreed value policy because the car isnt old enough...
Something you might learn is that all the brokers have their own agreements with the underwriters..
So going with a different broker, I could find the same underwriter offering agreed value and significantly cheaper. In fact, its even possible to enable Agreed Value mid policy at no extra cost I found... A busted windshield would probably cost me £1200 though....
It's a minefield...:worried1:
