info centre software update

Hi all,

I read somewhere on Internet (on an Alfa Romeo French forum) that it is possible to upgrade the NIT G1 to NIT G2 release 12.3. Although it is an Alpha Romeo dedicated forum it seems that our car share the same hardware for Info centre.
Extract of what looks like a release note, the upgrade is for the following models:
ALFA GT, 147, 159 (fabriqués avant 01/2008), Brera (fabriqués avant 02/2008), Spider (fabriqués avant 02/2008)
FIAT Stilo, Idea (fabriqués avant 03/2008), Doblò, Panda, Ulysse (fabriqués avant 10/2005), Croma (fabriqués avant 11/2007)
IVECO Daily, Ducato (fabriqués avant 12/2006)
LANCIA Musa (fabriqués avant 11/2007), Ypsilon (fabriqués avant 02/2008), Phedra (fabriqués avant 10/2005)
MASERATI COUPE, SPIDER (2002-2006)

Does someone tried or succeeded to install this software update on one of our 4200 Coupe?
What could happened if install fail, I am afraid to end this a non working system.

Thanks for your ideas/advices.

Regards,
Ronan

Ronan, I do know that the map discs work on many of the models above. I'm not sure how you can check which software variant is installed on my car. I don't have the original set-up discs but I would be loathed to attempt the upgrade without the ability to restore the nit should the upgrade fail.

I had an update disc loaded onto mine (first 4200) apart from the phone and Sat Nav facilities being added the rest of the unit had no change.

David Howson did this for me and I installed a GPS receiver for £4.99.

My sat Nav has been playing up recently and I think it's the GPS antenna, where did you get yours from at £4.99 and did it plug straight into the NIT.

I'm ok with accessing the nit as I have fitted an Alpine EZI-DAB previously, but have ordered from the link hope it cures my fault, thanks Miket

Thanks for your answer,
Here are my diagnostic screen shots. Although we have the same hardware we have some pretty different software versions.

rylorin, I have a couple spare NIT units. Problem is im in the usa. If you or anyone comes across the updated software id have no problem trying it on one of them. By the way, I noticed in the pics some of your buttons may be peeling or sticky. I restore the buttons in our cars if your interested,,Thanks

Which model Alfa Romeo?
So are you saying an Alfa Romeo had the same info centre as the Maserati?
