Indicator collar fix

After many attempts at getting a cable tie to stick to the outer circumference, I have at last triumphed .
Super glue gives no time to adjust tie , and the Gorilla glue , no good in this application.
Araldite twin pack epoxy did the job . Finally able to get some material on to the collar , and when replaced in stalk assy now cancels both ways , at least it does so in my hand .
Ultimate test will be when refitted to GS , have to wait until next visit to Carrs of Exeter , scared of airbags , me .

Every day I have been using my repaired indicator collar in it's assembly to cancel half a dozen left and right turns . Just holding it in my hand and turning the collar with my fingers , just to ensure it is still effective.
Today as I turned the collar , one of my carefully applied and glued cable tie sections peeled off . Glad it choose to fail before I had paid Carrs of Exeter to install it . Has to go in to get the Airbag warn and bypass dash lights reset .
I believe I am on the correct path , just needs something to reinforce it . Not sure what the collar is made from , but jolly difficult to get anything to stick , nylon perhaps ?
I shall overcome, not being beaten by this .
Tune in for next exciting episode .

Has anyone tried to use one the 3D pens you can get to do a repair like this.
Works like a hot glue gun, but uses plastic string, so could be a stronger fix

I'm no expert but if it's polyethylene I doubt it will grip. It may well be possible to build up a new part from scratch

(Bear in mind my view on polyethylene is based on an episode of Tomorrow's World and personal experience that the bloody stuff will not stick at all

Yes , could well be , no not a dumb question, a good idea . I have 2 guns and umpteen sticks in the back of my company Skoda works barge .
Have applied a generous coating of Araldite early today and ordered up a selection box of tiny tiny nuts and bolts . I aim to drill with a 1mm bit through the glue , cable tie and collar , and then secure with the contents of my box of tiny fixings . Then grind back and sand to a nice smooth finish .
On another front my progress continues on de-stickying my interior . Done the buttons , the door pull trims , the steering column and the dash screen vent . The dash vents , I am not happy with , also managed to break one of the mechanisms and the fragile clips that hold the assembly in the dash . Managed to find a couple for less than Eurospares wanted . I have one , the other coming from a Dutch concern called Masparts , worth a look if you need anything, anyway , the vents . Surprised to find they are still coated in rubbery stuff , new I'll grant you , but in a few years time.....
Has anyone ever tried to lacquer a new one in order to seal surface and prevent decay ?
Or is that beyond the realms of possibility ?

That’s a good point, but I bet it could have a use somewhere in our fragile Maserati world

No , I have not . If there is any material left to work with I'll have a bash .
Recent post outlines current course of action . Thanks for the suggestion.

And I think this may be the answer. Needs a mechanical anchor....

Still awaiting my tiny tiny nuts and bolts. Still I guess China is a long way away . Hope they haven't strapped it to a DHL sloth .
