You think? ;)

If the car has Skyhook, it changes the suspension settings and the sound from the exhaust fakery.
If the car doesn't have Skyhook, it just changes the sound from the exhaust fakery.
I'm 99.999% certain it doesn't change the gearbox settings, other than the change point being slightly higher. Willing to bet if you put it to the test against a stopwatch there's no difference.

OK, you're the expert as always. I just own the car.

I've driven three different Ghibli's all day too Dem.

It's very easy to fool people into believing a car has more power by changing the throttle response electronically. It's the basis of far too many of the aftermarket engine 'tuning' chips, which actually provide sod-all more power, and just empty your wallet. I don't believe the Maserati Diesel engine has a sport mode which adds engine power.

Sports mode makes the transmission quicker on all Ghiblis. There will be a noticeable difference in drive.

Ooooooooooooooooo.... sorry, didn't mean to offend.

No offence taken. You were incorrect with your statement that the only thing the sport button does is to change the noise. My car doesn't have Skyhook, so no difference is made to the suspension, but in Sport mode the gear changes are faster and occur at higher revs. I don't think anyone said anything about there being more power available in Sport mode, I just observed that it gets up and goes better, presumably down to the faster gear changes. My guess that throttle response changes in Sport mode is unfounded - I'll get to know it better as I drive it more.

Mine definitely introduces faster gear changes and higher rev changes in sport mode as well as opening valves similar to the Gransport. I don't know if the oil burner has those.

It certainly feels like there is a chunk more power too and I don't think it's just the gearbox software fooling me. However, that seemed more pronounced after the mapping which I think is controlled by the sport button.

Loving mine. It's getting better looking as time goes by, certainly a grower and also much nicer in the flesh than in photos.

The sport mode certainly changes the gearbox settings. It changes at higher revs and more quickly (as stated). The throttle map is also changed, making it much more sensitive. This makes the car go like a stabbed rat (good analogy lol). Im not sure it gives a different engine map? And of course it sounds great :)
