Well after 2.5 years of ownership it's time to move on and with a lot of thinking and looking it's not going to be a Stradale.

I just can't push myself to do it and instead are going for an AMG GTs

Sorry everyone for mentioning that word on here but it's just such an amazing motor that I have to itch that itch as they say.

Hopefully I'll be back in a couple of years maybe when the Alfieri comes out who knows?

It's been a pleasure.

No need to apologise, I fear you will be back one day so keep your account open.

I cant say I blame you, Maserati need to pull their finger out and offer something to their owners who are looking to move. The Strad, as nice as it is, is just not different enough from a GTS I fell and maybe the Alfieri, or Unicorn as its known or the GT replacement will see you return.

I trust the experience of owning and Maserati and your involvement in this forum have been a pleasant one.

All the best fella.

Won't have the same intoxicating sound or same soul but you will find out the hard way.

Enjoy it all the same :D

Plus people will look at the car and think of the driver in a different (not good) way, the only other car I've owned where people genuinely love them is a defender, though any classic gets a similar response

Certainly has been a good experience. This is the best forum I've ever been on tbh. The next best one was BMW GS motor cycle forum. Thanks

They do have an exhaust button to make it nice and loud but probably not as loud as the Masser.

Not sure on that one but know what you mean about Land Rovers. I have about 200 of them and everytime I drive one on the road people wave and in just over 2 years of owning the masser I've had about 4 waves from other Masser drivers but I'm sure they must all of been on here.

I've had a few people come over and chat in petrol stations , I had the window open at the lights a couple of weeks ago and a passenger in the car next to me started asking me questions, some guy in the car behind me at a set of lights motioned me to give it some revs so he could film it on his phone.

it may be that people don't feel drivers of 100k cars are approachable where if you're driving an old 90 or a classic ish maserati they see you as an enthusiast who's happy to chat about the cars

when I was driving my 90 I've made the mistake of putting my hand up to a farmer and getting the, get orf moi laand look back

I wasn't calling you a knob for buying a mercedes BTW

Well thank you for that, we do hear it a lot and without being big headed, means a lot to all the guys who put their time and efforts in.

I can really see the attraction of that merc and since Maserati do not seem capable of deciding to turn left or right at a T junction just now I also see the reasoning behind your choice. I'm sure you'll love it, itches should be scratched ;)

Yep, despite almost a year of not being in a Maserati I still frequent the forum (much to others dismay!)

Only issue is that I unfortunately cannot attend the Ace or many other events as they are Italia Only, my fault for not having an Italian car I suppose!

AMG GT... Frankly I'm jealous! Well done you. Stay with the forum and bring the GT to Llandow, Brunty and all sorts of other not specifically Italian events.

Always loved you Maserati...Great car and great colour and sure someone will get them selves a lovely car when its sold....

But can understand why you want the AMG GT....There was one at Brunty last weekend and it was bloody fast......sounded great and looked great. Good luck and let us know what you buy...and some pictures.

Thank you for all the kind words and not shooting me down for going German.
I'll certainly keep my foot in the door here and post some pics.
All the best Nick

Wish you all the best, I think the car you are buying is one of the best on sale at the moment.

There is a strong message in this for Maserati. Many of us on here keep coming back for more - I for one have had three Masers over the last 15 years and have done something like 80,000 miles in them - but the market is not that kind in the main. Most people with money will buy a half dozen car brands and will chop and change between them as it suits depending on the timing of product life cycles and the tech offered in cars. Maserati is weak in both counts in that it changes it's shapes very infrequently and the tech is always verging on last generation or last+1 in the case of my car. I really can't see how Maserati will survive if it does not address these issues. At the moment my money is on Alfa not Maserati.

Having switched to an Aston, you make an interesting point.

Aston have had the Vantage and the DB9 for 11 and 12 years respectively. Quite long by most manufacturers standards. But similar to Maserati. However, from what I've seen and read in the Aston owner's and enthusiasts world, people do not seem to feel that there is a lack of choice or progression.

Aston evolved the Vantage over the 10 years: the Vantage, Vantage S, Vantage V12, Vantage V12 S, GT12 and GT8 - along with a number of Special Editions over the years. This has kept interest and given people things to upgrade to.

With the DB9 they have done similar to the above with the evolution of the DB9, but even more by creating the DBS.

Maserati seemed to have failed on having variations of the GT over the years. Yes there has been GT, GTS and Stradale, differing gearboxes, along with interior and exterior updates. But I don't feel it has presented enough options.

I also feel they could have made MUCH more of the Strad, like Aston did with a Vanquish. Made it that bit different so it forms its own separate product line, rather than being another type of Granturismo. If they couldn't up the engine size to a V10 or V12 (possibly due to Ferrari crossover) then turbo charge it, or at least try and squeeze more displacement out of the V8.
