From what I have seen this is exactly what I have been waiting for .... an "affordable" new Maserati with a comprehensive warranty that I could drive everyday.
Although I say that with some caveats.
Like some I need to see it in the flesh, and am gutted by the totally uninspiring engine bay .... Part of the enjoyment of my QP was those lovely red rocker covers .........
I think the back end also looks uninspiring .... The rear of my QP was gorgeous and you can't help thinking that this is what many see as they hear you pass
Having said that the new QP rear end is equally anonymous if you know what i mean. Bit of a cop out I think.
When I sold my QP (2004 car) I part exchanged it for a new Mercedes CLS in white. A stunning car, and very few and far between ...... Cost £50k as I simply could not access a 4 door Maserati new with the related warranty. The QP had to go when, 3 months after spending £6,000 on repairs and servicing it needed a new air conditioning unit etc nd at £3k I couldn't bring myself to spend the money.......
I think I am the sort of person the Ghibi is aimed at I.e. someone that is able to stretch to £55k on a car to use everyday, but cannot quite honestly afford the uncertainties of servicing costs beyond say £1500 per annum.....
I am really excited that I have found the replacement for the Merc next year and will keep you posted ....
I enjoyed the article in this months EVO .....
What are people's thoughts on a servicing budget for a car covering 14000 per annum ?
Marc
PS
That engine bay might even sway me to look the bloody diesel if the clips on YouTube really represent the sound of the diesel ..... Although my preference has to be the petrol. RWD for me as cannot stretch to AWD ....
