My younger sons first car was a peugeot 106 P reg only 18k miles previously owned from new by a disabled old lady , it only ever went out twice a week , once to the shops and then to the garage for yet another service , it had a stack of bills god knows what for ,thinkthey made half of it up , any way his first solo insurance when he was 18 and had passed his test , done his pass plus and had been driving a year on my insurance was £1114.00 with the co-op 2nd year he moved to direct line at £957 ,i bought him another car last year CAT D 55 plate polo 1.4 and his insurance went up to £ 1180.00 predominately due to its value being £5500 , IF he puts his girlfriend on it aswell and say she lives at the same address it will go back down under the £1000 mark , think he will get further reductions when he actually reaches 21 and then 25 ,
Providing he continues to be accident free and his No Claims builds up he should be well on his way to cheaper insurance , i do feel sorry for the youngsters nowdays , when i was younger and had some high end cars insurance was always manageable price wise , He's a student at Cambridge half the time ,the rest of the time he works for a high street opticians continuing hs training on £18K a year and he finds it difficult , to cope running his car and living with just the occasional dipping into his dad pocket ,
Adam Keep your sights on something in group one , i know its hard especially being a potential petrol head , but im sure you can enhance it with some fuury dice or something
im not taking the pee , but you get my drift , be very careful about modding it without notifying the insurance company , they are very hot on that now and it will make you null and void should something distastrous happens
