I got an Android Screen Car Navigation Head unit from China...

The seller at navicar provided a software update for the head unit and information how to change the wiring of their new switch. Here's a link to the info I have and videos of the process.
Following this made the supplied hazard switch work the hazard lights. I did not get the switch itself to flash though.

I just updated the head unit with the .bin-file and the hazard works now without modifying the wires... I am happy now! Take care that the USB stick isn´t too large - will not work!

Now I can move on to the next problem, the lighting of the buttons and switches! Does anyone have instructions for me?

I can see a few people have installed the Acardash unit for the 4200. I've ordered one of these. Just wondering if there have been any quality problems since the previous posts. Also, the supplier only offers the screen frame in black or carbon fibre. Does anyone know where to get the factory colour codes for the centre console trim in order to colour match, or is it trial and error?

I'm also interested in how people are doing with this. My questions:
- The sound from my current, as built system is awful (thin & unlistenable) even though I've had all the speakers replaced with Focal units. Am thinking it may be the NIT (?). Does this Acardash SOUND good?
- The reversing camera option looks good. If I use the wireless option, can it be fitted without damaging the bodywork. Can it be removed to get back to the original as built car if needed in the future? (Assume rest of the system/screen can be removed/reinstated.
- I have a Spyder - any reason why this would be more difficult etc to fit on a Spyder?
- I'd like the DAB option. Is this an easy add on?
- Is the screen/system quick & responsive?

Any thoughts on these gratefully received!

Can't say anything about the sound quality - the previous owner of my car added a massive amplifier and replaced the speakers. It is way better than before.
The reversing camera unit didn't fit. It was thought to be a rear plate light replacement, but they sent it for a different car.
I'm using it in a Spyder
don't know - I am using Android Auto - so I am streaming radio stations
its okay

what is annoying is the missing backlight of the switches on the console for the windows and the fact that I am not able to connect a Bluetooth volume rocker - the touch volume drives me crazy

Yep just replaces anything going into the normal SWC keys pins and gives your rotary volume plus a few more buttons etc. I think I had to train the HU to the inputs

I stripped the chrome and satin blacked it, sits in the cup holder bit like a knock off i-drive lol

The device seems quite large to me. There's limited space in my 2002 Spyder to mount it. I'll check out the Chinese dealers...

The backlights need a 7V feed, which you can get by picking up a 12V feed controlled by the ignition and using a buck converter (costs a couple of quid). The very long thread about replacing the NIT has some more details. I’ll see if I can post a link. Really not that hard and rewarding once it works.

Edit: Here is the link to where the discussion starts about the 7V feed: https://www.sportsmaserati.com/index.php?threads/4200-radio-satnav-upgrade.31574/page-10#post-833015

Hopefully this will take to the correct part of a very long but informative thread about everything to do with upgrading the sound in a 4200/Spyder. There is a link to the Maseratilife thread that explains the 7V feed in detail. Happy reading!

It does sit proud of the cupholder. But the 'cup' base screws off so you could mount it on a flat surface with adhesive etc.

Probably some lower profile options out there now
