Am sure james hunt said had most fun in an old a35 in the wet around london on skinny tyres passing ferraris.
Though its possible he was a little more skilled than me..

My Fiat Coupé 20v turbo sports a smörgåsbord of brands and age of tyre. No 2 are the same, the youngest is 17 years old. A full set of new boots will be fitted before it eventually revisits the road.

Love those cars. There is a paint shop near me that has two in at the moment. A few years ago I drove past a rural French house and he had about ten of them in his garden in varying states of decay.

There's a house not too far from me that has four on the front drive and one in the road. I rode past it a while back just as the owner started the one in the road. I'm pretty sure it very non-standard!

Surely if BB saw 10 then you saw 11?

Christine bought her car from a MD (Hyundai i10) at just 17k on the clock and barely3-years old. It had a complete mis-mash of tyres and all budget brand. When she moved back oop norf last year I bought her a set of all-season premium tyres, a bit more juicy than the summer variant but coped with snow and ice and her near weekly commutes on the A1, over 30k added to the car and they are good for another winter! You get what you pay for and that is a fact. For me; I just want her getting home safely, the thought of her battling tired artic drivers in foul conditions on the A1 meant I wanted to arm her with the best options.

Just got the four tyres on the 500 and all made 28/22 so good for Ms French's work commute.

It's got a lot to do with how they are stored and treated I think. I have some winter wheels that have 2015 tyres on them but as they are lightly used and stored out of sunlight, they are soft and have no cracking etc. I still think 7 year old winters are better than new summers when the mercury dips, like it does here in the frozen North.

Adding dates seems a bit like a clever deal the tyre makers made to sell more units.

Will be getting out winter tyres out of storage at the end of the month. Charlies are a few years old now but only done c5k on them and as others have stated, they are mainly out in the winter 'sun' and then in a dark room slumbering over the brighter months.

Our XCs summers will probably be binned now as they are 3-4mm and 5 years old... will look for some bargain summer tyres over the cold month whist its sits on its winter boots.
