The handbook states.....

On vehicles equipped with electronically suspension, pressing button L ( sport button) will select the sport mode, which sets the suspensions(sic), traction control and cambiocorsa gearbox ( if available) to a racing-type style. Please note that selecting the sport mode strongly decreases driving comfort , especially in city traffic and uneven roadbeds.

On my 4200 the sports button stiffens the suspension and, when under heavy throttle, will quicken the shift. Above 7000rpm, the shift is quicker still. Under 'lighter' driving conditions, say below 3000rpm, the shift isn't noticeably different.

Yep, Skyhook activated through the button marked SPORT. None skyhook have a PWR button instead. The PWR button is similar in that it changes the traction settings and quickens the shift, but without the adaptive suspension response.

I could be wrong but I thought that on a 3200 if you had a pwr button then you didn't have electronic suspension. If you had a sport button then you did. But sky hook an uprated elecectronoc suspension was added to the 4200 if it again had the sport rather than pwr button. It appears that some of the later 3200 actually had skyhook before it became available as the default electronic suspension option on the 4200. Pwr only changed throttle response and sport changed both throttle and suspension. My Qp iv had the earlier electronic but not"skyhook" with 4 manual settings and no sport or pwr button.
My 355 had a sport button and electronic suspension but not skyhook probably the same as the earlier 3200 electronic suspension. The actuators look remarkably similar.

Hi Nick, I think the root of the difference is adaptive as opposed to electronic. Non-skyhook don't have the ability to adapt power delivery under driving conditions, but rather just swap to pre-defined settings.

Thanks Miles, adaptive is the right word for skyhook.
But I think that on the 3200 if it has a pwr button then the suspension is fixed.
I need to get Nigelo to confirm if I'm talking b!locks or not here of course

Can ot remember what my button said bit dealer said it had a Skyhook I'm sure........I thought it gave better throttle response and tightened the suspension...Wondering if it didn't seem to make a big difference that it was just a sport button...

Pretty sure I have sport button - (left well alone after first disaster with a stationary tree!) and Skyhook on a 2001 3200, the guy I bought it from said he had an email from Maserati confirming this (it never arrived!) as I did question him about it. pressing certainly sharpens throttle response by lengthening the gear change, drops down 2 gears in kickdowninstead of 1 - scary at 40mph, staright into 1st gear and 5000rpm! change up at 6000! tried it once to see if it worked - it did! brown trouser moment!
Not sure about Maseratis but I have been able to get a list of factory fitted options from dealer networks simply by quotiing reg number for other makes including Fords and BMW's afriendly dealer - Dick Lovetts or Emblem perhaps may be able to help
I have another button far left on bottom row cant seem to make that do anything - any ideas?
