Im scared of flying and 17 hours to thailand is a lot but willing to do it if its good

It's been awesome...weather, sights, people, even food.... but mainly this resort. For the 7 days we've been here, we haven't left the premises for 4 of them and that's very unusual for me as I'm a very restless person. I rarely go back to a long-haul destination twice (too many places in the world to see in such a short life!) and so far only New York and a California/Vegas flydrive (done 3 times and counting) has tempted me back more than once. I'm confident that this place will be added to that list!

Flight is only 11 hours so only 3 more than you're doing to Cancun (also, that was to Malaysia which is a bit further than Phuket).

Anyway, if you've booked Cancun you should like that...it's one of those places you can't fail to enjoy really!

I've never really gelled with Cancun personally. It's all a bit too brash in the American way. Some of it is nice and if you like running around and partying like a blue 4rsed fly, you will love it. If you don't, best you avoid spring break!

I'd agree with your comments on Cancun itself...it's very Americanified although to be fair I do quite like the States so was OK for me.

Where I stayed though (and where Dem is looking at) is more Riviera Maya so quite a bit quieter than Cancun centre - indeed, when I went there last year, I only went into the centre for about 4 hours!
