Hi All

I'm outrun or Athol to be more formal. I'm based in Glasgow and work in cutting edge biotechnology. My business works with adult stem cells which we both store, which everyone should do, and we develop therapies for things as diverse as cancer, diabetes, myocardial infarction and wrinkles. After 5 years of messing around I've finally joined the club. I'm now the proud owner of lozcb's gorgeous Gransport, a car that I understand many of you know well. She's been well looked after, apart from a brief altercation with another car a few years ago which led Loz to buy it as a light Cat D and proceed to repair it exceptionally well and to upgrade it with a few tasteful bits and pieces. Having owned a Cat C before, the D is not an issue for me at all and I would recommend it to those that are not scared of a little history!

I plan to do a couple of small jobs including new boots all round, a little stitching repair and seat bolster repair as well some new chrome around the air vents. Once that's done, it's off to Spa in August, hopefully in the sunshine.

I have a few wee questions which I'll post in the appropriate section, appreciate any help with the answers.

Cheers

Outrun

Welcome Athol, I do know that a certain midlands member is crying into his Frosties this morning.

Enjoy, you have one of the best GS's out there.

I do also agree with your comments about Cat D cars. Insurance companies are just writing them off as its easier and more cost effective and does not reflect it being a basket case.

By the time these claims assistants get hold of them, a like for like hire car and their fees plus they all push you to claim for whiplash I don't blame them.

Just think, how many classic cars have been stripped, dipped, had the majority of its metal work replaced and is seen a wholly acceptable whereas a simple new wing, bumper, bonnet and headlight on a modern car that becomes cat'd has such a stigma attached to it.

I just dont get it and more and more cars will follow this route for even smaller repairs in the future.

Cheers all.

Now in spain for two weeks with the kids. Picking up your first Maserati two days before going away for two weeks is hulluva frustrating!

I hope she starts when I get back.

Bought my first Maserati a day before going away in the UK. Complete change of plans/packing etc and we went in the new car. Soft bags ftw with a Maser!
