Hi everyone from Spain (sorry for my english...) My name is Samuel and i´m in love with the Maserati Gransport :jpheart:

I want to buy one, i think that is one of the most beautiful cars everybody can buy for a "reasonable" amount of $$$. I know that maintenance isn´t affordable but i assume it, so i want to know the typical issues and how to find and fix them.

In Spain there isn´t many Gransports but Madrid official store owner is selling now his Gransport, a black unit with 78.000 kms, carbon fiber interior and beige leather. And this summer i know that a red unit is going to be on sale...

So this is my history, show me your knowledge about this model!!!

Many thanks and best regards. :drinks:

Welcome aboard Samuel there is a member on here in Gibraltar with a GS.
History of the car seriously important so you know it has been maintained.
The potential purchase needs to be checked and inspected closely by someone who knows the Marque well.
Best of Luck and enjoy :)

You don't have a lot of choice with only two possible cars. But my recommendation is not to be in a rush and buy a good one that includes:
Service and maintenance history
Mechanics inspection and clutch wear
Independent inspection by someone who knows what to look for in a good GS
Check for accident damage
Gaps in history must be verified and validated - these cars may be stored for ling periods of time and services may have been missed as a result of this. Gaps in service history may be cause for concern as it may show the previous owners attitude to maintaining his car.

I bought mine last year in September. Its a lovely car. Buy the very best example you can find. Don't buy one cheap knowing you have to spend money to put it right - it can be more expensive in total cost.

See and drive as many cars as you can... It will help so much because the difference between a good and bad car is easy to tell.
Get a pre purchase Inspection from a Maserati or Ferrari garage where it can be plugged in and all fault codes and clutch wear checked.
Paint repairs (for scratches etc) on some cars I saw were awful... check it carefully for accident damage.
I found that there are not many garages that have the expertise to look after the car correctly. Its easier in Madrid or Barcelona , but only use a Ferrari specialist.
Service history for Spanish cars is not great... I had to do a lot of research on mine to get all the details.
They are great cars cars and are no less reliable than any other especially when maintained correctly.
If you have any questions pls ask.

never heard of a red special edition...... red is a rare colour though... it may be the same red one that was for sale in Seville a while ago...
if it has nothing at all history wise you may be able to get Tayre to check for you if you can get the chasis number.
The Tayre car should be well sorted, no excuses there.

Hola Samuel,

I am spanish too, if you need more information, please let me know.

I have in Valencia 2 key maserati specialist (one even former head of mecanichs of spanish F1 Team Adrian Campos) that are very friendly and you can ask them for advice.

Having said that, with 78'000km, EUR 36'900 is on the expensive side... I did a lot of research and immaculates GS with merely 30'000km sold in Spain for about EUR 32'000-34'000

The seller saids clutch is 68% life left, and is the original. Can it be possible?
The pump had failure and was changed this year.

78,000 kms and 32% clutched used? It sounds unlikely, I would expect 32% clutch wear for around 20,000 kms if you're lucky

78k kms and 68% used is however possible.

I would budget for a new clutch first, they only last 30-40k kms and will cost you €3k to replace.
