Hello. I need some advice from someone who has done this.
How do I remove the carpet-like lining of my QP's boot lid?
I have a set of trim prying tools that I used on the door cards when the window regulators needed attention a couple of years ago, but daren't attack these studs with them until I have some advice about how to remove them in such a way as to be able to put them back again afterwards.
Thanks in anticipation.

'Carefully' They are standard pine tree fasteners, so you probably want to get a varied pack to replace the ones that do break.

Not so easy to find in that colour though, I suspect

Pull all the clips with your trim tool and undo the two crosshead screws that go through the pull down handle. Basically falls off. You are correct to be hesitant as normally you do break the odd one.

Black ones and a bit of spray paint?

Why do you want to remove it?

Very sensible question. Hello Eb.
Water ingress.
Take another look at the photograph and see where the bulk of the discolouration of the 'carpet' is. I think water is getting in through the boot handle area and it's getting in faster than my dehumidifier cartridge can cope. So the plan is to get into it, dismantle, make and fit new gaskets and reassemble. There's a bit of spray painting for me along the way too.
Anticipated result: a boot so very much dryer that I no longer have to worry about it, even with the kind of rain we've had recently.

Thank you everyone for speedy and helpful replies.
Fantastic people on this forum.
Makes the thought of trying to run a normal car seem frightening.

"trim tool pliers" brings back results , they all look the same , I like to use these as they apply the pressure in the right direction rather than levering them out.

The only issue is when the fixing is recessed, but definitely better than a screwdriver

Indeed , careful digging so as not to damage the carpet in this case.

My boot liner is off , I can confirm you can get to all of them in the boot !

Many thanks @alastairb . I'll get one before I start.
Delighted to hear your boot lid liner is off at the moment. Mine will be joining you very soon.
Just to confirm: Did you manage to avoid snapping any of the studs?
