Hello! I'm a new convert to the Trident! 2009 Maserati Granturismo joining the family.....

Hello Everyone,
As a new member of the Forum, it's been deemed a Good Thing if I started my own thread to 1) introduce myself and 2) stop clagging up the subframe thread with my ( frankly overexcited) waffle.
Ohh, I've been looking at Maserati various for years; I was originally after a Quattroporte but the front end made me hesitate a bit, but when I saw the Granturismo I was smitten. It's just a Pininfarina masterpiece .
Finally in a position to get one ( just as fuel prices hit a high- yaay!! My timing is still good, then...) Found a 2009 car in , oh I've forgotten the Italian name; it's a very dark metallic Grey and I think it really suits it well. I commissioned Dale to do a report on it and a few faults showed up; namely front suspension bushes, leak from a cam cover, expansion tank crack beginning, some areas of sagging headlining and the wrong battery fitted. So I had a little chat with the private seller and we arrived at a mutually agreeable number that covered most of the issues ( he was a bit surprised since it only had a major service 500 miles ago and some suspension work, but he was very cool about it).
So until she actually falls into my hands, I've been ordering some "Gucci" bits for her: Stigdin's nice Alloy dead pedal, stainless brake hoses, urutu's silicone air intake and carbon sound pipes and an exterior spec carcoon to protect her until I get the garage built.
Next on the hit list is an x pipe and sports cats, but I can't decide how to update the infotainment system - both the Aucar and Naviplus look good, but I'm leaning towards the Naviplus since it keeps the CD player - if anyone has fitted either type I'd appreciate your opinon/experience of them.

Welcome, again :D

I have the SportsItalia version of the Naviplus system. It’s great and I prefer the original look compared to the Aucar.

Hello Zep,
Do you know how much the Sportsitalia chaps charge to supply and fit their version of Naviplus? What's different about their version?
Thanks
The Captain

Yep, OP get Matt at SportsItalia to fit the new uprated forum system. I have the mrk1 version and even that is excellent.
X pipes can be had for £360 inc delivery from Marios at autoshieldmaserati.co.uk

Welcome, probably again too... as you can see this is a lively place! Now one of our amazing mods just needs to get the thread in the correct place and you're all set! That alloy dead pedal is also on my list if it can get shipped to SA that is and if it fits a QPV. The SI Naviplus too, although having to fit it myself might be a bit of an ask. Without wanting to hi-jack the thread, has anybody done it themselves?

Their version has the latest box, which has improvements on duplexing and response. Not sure if NaviPlus have gone to the new set up yet.

Think Bebs has got the price right.

Hello Bebs, who did your steering wheel refurbishment?

And Zep, how much is your big brake upgrade and what does it consist of?

I'm intrigued as to what " duplexing" is/ means with regard to the Sportsitalia naviplus system. Please bare in mind I am not the most.....technically minded chap when explaining.

I've left a message with Autoshield re their x pipe ( do they do the stainless sports cats too?) Or should I stick with Larini ? They seem to be the standard. And they offered a discount if I order this week!

Thanks for the warm welcome, too Everyone!

The brake kits consist of replacement bell and rotor discs that are 380mm diameter (standard is 360mm), with Ferodo DS performance pads, spacers and new hardware to secure the calipers.

Duplexing is where, on the phone, the two people talk at the same time. This can result in poor call quality. It’s never been an issue for me, but it is better on the new system.

Larini cats are proven and rarely trigger eml from the lamdas.. you may want to hold off on any back boxes if you are doing cats and x pipe. You might find that more than loud enough.

Hello Chaps,
So today I have given the bank account another jolly good spanking to the tune of .....an X pipe and some rather saucy Larini sports Cats!!! I don't think 'quiet' is a description that will be able to be used about this Car!
So the last things on the tweak list are: Sportsitalia Naviplus infotainment upgrade, some wheel spacers and Zep's big brake upgrade. And a visit to a Detailer. Just once. Promise Darling! Possibly some schmooked indicator lenses....and Stigdin's seat levers....and...no, that really is it. Until something breaks I suppose!

You’re doing well! I immediately fell into the same hole when I picked up mine. Once you’ve got all the above sorted, you’ll think of something else. For inspiration have a look at my GT-S thread. Uprated speakers perhaps?
