Sorry, but couldn't resist a bit of mystery:goodnews:

I will certainly post pics when she lands. I have the two longest weeks of my life ahead of me while it is prepared and pick it up.

Out of interest, I have been offered AutoGlym LifeShine by the stealer (dealer). Has anyone got any experience with this product and think its worth the £400 investment?

Many congratulations c4sman, job well done!!
Wouldn't bother with life shine, complete rubbish and all dependant on how the car is prepped. Mine was done but pretty poor to be honest. I then used a great detailer (summit detailing) who did a fantastic job and brought the car up to better than new.
You'll soon be addicted to the noise!
Cheers blu

Thanks Blu

I've also had an update on collection. I get it on Sunday

Fully serviced with 4 new tyres. Will post pics when I can, but suspect all daylight hours will be spent getting it dirty!

Check it's got the right tyres if its coming from a Maserati dealer - P Zeros with 220 tread wear and Maserati or Ferrari markings.

Hadn't realised these cars have specific tyres like Porsche. This is a main dealer car so hopefully they won't be cutting corners. They've done the lambda sensors and fuel can(?) as part of the service althogh they are not due until September and the car with have the trident warranty so hopefully all will be correct. What does the marking look like. I know Porsche (n1, n2 etc.) but wouldn't know what to look for on Maserati.

It's K1.

Fuel can is just a carbon breather for the fuel tank.

Ferrari marking is K1. Can't remember Maserati - it's a long number - but if you go
on camskill.co.uk they will give the part number for the Maserati tyre. Most just fit K1 as the California has overlap with the GranTurismo.

Great news...enjoy the miles.
thanks Safrane! I have certainly enjoyed the first 120!

Here are my initial impressions,

After nearly 10 years of 911s the GTS initially felt heavy, big and cumbersome. This feeling quickly fades away however as it is just re-calibrating what to expect and they are very different cars. After 120 miles mixed between all road types including country lanes, the car feels agile, fast, responsive and of the highest quality for a car of its type and size. A few friendly straight line pulls against my mate in his Gen 2 997 Carrera S suggest the GTS can hold its own (which is not what the car or I am about, but this surprised me nevertheless).
The GTS is definitely about the quality of the experience as opposed to ultimate speed and handling, but it just happens to be rather good at these too. My first thought is about how I avoid wearing the clutch out has I am already addicted to constant low speed downshifts in town in sports mode!

Thanks again to all on this forum for your advice on getting me in a dream motor!

Glad you're enjoying it, c4sman. They are hopelessly addictive. First car I've not got bored of after less than a year, or which just doesn't manage to be joyful enough to justify the expense(s).

Making some crude assumptions about mileage and wear the clutch *should* be good for around 50k miles. I'm on 30k miles and a bit south of 50% wear, but note that the reading is never very accurate. My local MD (as of a few months ago) had never changed a clutch in a GTS. My car was originally a London car which may have accelerated clutch wear in its early years. I think the trick is to not feather the clutch too carefully but to be decisive and make sure it bites quickly.

Thanks AdamN, I assume that means larger throttle inputs (within reason) as apposed to "creeping" in traffic. If so I'm good with that. I just can't stop downshifting for that rev flare. it is magic. The car actually also sounds nice under accelleration even out of sport mode, a very subtle and classy V8 just letting you know it's there!
