Hi,

I was pointed here by a chap on one of my Lotus forums (I have an Exige and an Elan). His name is Marcos over there, not sure if it is the same here.

Anyway, I've just bought an 05 Quattroporte and have instantly fallen in love with it. Such an event to be in and drive.

Anyway, here are some pictures! The only problem I have is that the CD changer has thrown a wobbly and is refusing to read discs. I'll ask a question over in the correct part of the forum.

Hi Ben,

Yes, suspect he's our Marcos, and yes, you are in the centre of the known Maserati forum universe!!!

Love the car, glad you fell in love..........................love does strange things to a guy.......................:)

Enjoy our forum, post lots and tell us more about the QP.

Check in the tech section for things gone wrong.

Cheers gents. Hi Andy, yep it was seloc (my name is the same over there as here). Good to know there are a few in these parts. Adam, I'm on the outskirts of glorious Warrington myself.

Here are the other two (yes I like the location for photos!), they've been sulking in the garage with the arrival of the shouty italian.

Hi Ben

Love the QP. My favourite 4 door saloon with punch and style. If you have an Esprite too I will be really jealous :). Just a silly thought about the CD changer. Have you tried loading the CD's upside down ? I have made this error in players.

Regards
Paul

:OD CD upturning was the first thing I checked but sadly they were the right way up.

Adam, yes the silver wheels are unusual, good spot. It's a 240 Cup and all the cup cars came with silver wheels (before the later 255 and 260 versions which had a different lighter wheel type fitted). Lotus said it was to distinguish the cars but I always reckoned it was more a case of them having a stock of silver ones at the factory (having silver on the standard cars was a no cost option that noone opted for) and finding an excuse to get rid of them! I've got a black set too for it and the silver set are now dark grey as they needed a refurb after a parking incident when my wife was at the wheel!

Now, with that last bit in mind it is worth noting that the QP is nominally 'hers' and was supposed to replace her SLK but when it came to it yesterday she couldn't bear to part with the Merc (we bought it new 8 years ago the day after we got married and it's been a fab car; if not by any means a sports car. So, for the time being we have 5 cars (I have a Mondeo for commuting and carting the hound about) - good grief.

The situation with the SLK is an interesting one as the Elan has sat for over a year as it's morean ongoing resto project for me. If I get my **** in gear and do a few jobs I want done on it (suspension and brakes refurb) then it can be used much more - ideally saving the QP a bit as well. We'll see, best laid plans and all that.

Yep, it's plenty quick. At the time Lotus said 3.9 seconds 0-60 but you'd be very lucky to achieve that - especially as the later higher powered versions don't make such a bold claim (it's a bit of a Lotus 'thing' to claim that any new version is 1.5 seconds quicker round the hethel test track than the previous one. Hmmmm.

For info cup spec (notwithstanding the engine) is posh seats and harnesses, improved brakes and whizzy ohlins suspension and an LSD. It is a hoot to drive.

Warm warm welcome Benmac , by your posts an inkling of a petrolhead hahha to say the least , as you see were a friendly bunch and down to earth types with an occasional sense of humour , Lewis (marcos) by all accounts has gone green and eco and part exchanging the Aston for a Prius, Hmmmm , yeah right , if you need any help we have a good tech fix section and a few hands on QP owners

regards loz

Ya, it's good to know that people are hands on here. I'm not about to strip the engine down bug a bit of tinkering I'm more than happy with. Last night's adventures involved stripping the grille off and cleaning it right up alOng with what lay behind. Small difference but noticeable. It was encouraging (or disappointing dependent on viewpoint) to see that maserati have the same fixings supplier as lotus, their speciality being rusty screws and my personal bête noir - rawlnuts! All replaced with nice shiny stainless ones now!
