Ferrari comes complete with blood on the passenger headrest...

Aston looks ok though, although I guess appearances can be deceptive. How bad are these 'flood' damaged cars to sort out?

a decent 155 V6 for about 1500 quid, up rate the engine with some proper tuning like exhaust, manifold, filters etc, then fit the DTM look a like bumpers, very cheap restoration compared to buying a smashed 360.

Obviously Matt i look at this kind of thing from a different perspective, and lucky enough to have access to couple of good Aston techs at Newport works service which is local to me , worst case scenario hydrolocked engine = bent valves /a conrod or two , both i have priced before , zilch bodywork to take care of so all mechanical/electrical
Rebuild around 3K possibly new ecu and programming , doesn,t look to have had water ingressed into the cabin , remember these are straight from the insurance assessors direct and not cleaned and spivved first which hides a lot , so what you see is what you get ,(best kind) definately a goer if you set a budget of £10K repair , but ii reckon more like £5K

All depends Adam on the quality of finish your prepared to accept ,( Carlos fantango springs to mind ) spraying bumpers and panels on a 360 is no different or more expensive as spraying bumpers on an Alfa , whats its really about for me is entry into something special at a fraction of the real dealer cost ,the quality of work is paramount whether its for a fiesta or a fezza

The 360 is fitted with Larinis & some aftermarket wheels with big chrome rims, which could suggest it was never driven slowly....

Funny that neither airbag has been deployed given it's had a front-end smash?

Altho a bit daunting Mark , thats a bonus , expense of putting those thing right can be prohibitive sometimes (especially on a VW) so i see it as a positive rather than a negative , just wise to make sure its all up to scratch when its finished , initial impact may well have been on the passenger side , and it may well have been turned off , ironic tho as there seems to be blood on the passenger headrest

All Fezzas since the F355 have pretty much left me cold until the 458 came along. I had promised myself a 355 some time ago after hammering a new one around Thruxton almost 15 years ago. As soon as I bought the Maser I realised I would never own one - too impractical to use very often, potentially huge running costs for very little annual mileage and everyone else thinks you're a w_anchor with something to prove. I was always amazed at the reaction the Maser got - people letting me out of junctions, smiling, waving etc. You'd never get that in a Fezza.

Totally agree Mark , but Fezza ownership at some stage is on my to do list , nice to be able to tick the boxes and and to have been there done that and got the teashirt so to speak , dont think i'll ever be rich enough to have one as a permanent feature to the stable , more like a fleating romance

And me..totally agree. Funny how most that you talk to say the same thing about the 355. My Brother in law has the 575 and even he says the same about the 355.

The 355 was everything the 348 before it wasn't. I drove a 348 at speed and found it almost frightening, really skittish handling. The 355 was to me, and still is, a stunning looking car. I think it still holds it's own amongst modern machinery in the looks department. It had power, handling & style - no wonder residuals were so good for so long. The 360 after it was a massive disappointment to me and the 430 not much better in the looks department. Clearly technology moves on and the 355's power & perforamnce is less than some modern super saloons, but great design is often timeless and hard to improve upon. No new Ferrari since has caused me to give a second glance until I first saw a picture of a 458 - to me it could be the natural successor to the 355.

The only other Fezza that leaves me weak at the knees is the F40. Any of you who saw my pics from the DK Engineering day can imagine how excited I was to see a number of them together and up close. I was also lucky enough to have a ride in a colleague's friend's F50 in 1998 - amazingly quick car, but ugly as sin. Lots of more technologically advanced Fezzas, but none that stir the soul as well for me.

Ferrari for me is a beautifull car and you are right the 355 was the last beautifull Ferrari. The modern cars have presence but not beauty.

355 GTB Giallo Fly Nero leather open gate Manual, engine whining up to a spine tingling 8500 rpm, last best Ferrari ever, and starting to go up in value slightly, the last modern Ferrari to be called a classic.

Yeh but astons have 6 monthly servicing schedule and if you go the way of a cat C then question is why was it catagorised C in the first place?
All electrics will probably be shot and at aston pricing guessing at the repalacement costs will amount to nothing in the cold hard reality of the main dealer parts department.
I would guess that some of the ECU and wiring shorted out and also water got into the engine?
we just dont know the level of the damages really and thats where the real gamble is.
Sure its a cheap car on the surface but we have to understand that it was written off for more than just the owner saying "i dont want it back it got wet" if it was economic to repair and was easily repairable then the insurer would have insisted this were the course of action to take wouldnt they?
