Drive into a smallish Shell garage in my maserati. As i drive in i see something black and exotic, another maserati:tomato9: On closer inspection its a black grancabrio. How often does this happen?

I filled my car as i stared over at the grancabrio when the owner came out. He looked at my car for a split second and proceeded to his car and sped off.

Clearly not a SM member:mad:

When I first got my QP I waved at a 3200 driver and he just cold stared me. I guess some people see a car merely as a "status symbol" and have little real interest in the metal.

The GranTurismo has brought a lot of new owners to Maserati. Many of them just want a nice car.

Agree I think previously owning a 3200, 4200, & GS was seen as an bit of a left-field choice. At the time the public could not shake of the marques reliability reputation from the Bi Turbo days.

As Bigbob says the QP , GT & GTS have tempted owners of German prestage cars to swop, many of whom will "just" see the car as a stylish rapid means of transport. Certainly not enthusiasts.

The secrets out !

This is very true Bob, I noticed this some years back when Tony at HR Owen gave us and the boys a guided tour of the workshop. There were several 4.2 GT's which were just battered, scraped, dinged, all alloys curbed...a right state.

Tony commented then the the demographic of the new Maserati purchaser was changing and they were attracting new owners that had come from the German marques and basically did not look after them.

Ok, this will secure the future of Maserati but its not nice to see our cars taking so much abuse and mileage.
