I heard this as well, although in retrospect I struggle to understand how, given that everyone would be applying rather in advance and I doubt that his choices were in the public domain.

Simply, they both took gap years. It was reported here that he decided upon St. A to be out of the public domain.
She originally chose Edinburgh but changed to St. A. Some choose to make something of that.
Not that I particularly care less. Golf is "far" more interesting. I'll get my coat!

Can't see that working. Most take their offers before their gap year. Of course if he took a gap year and she (and the rest) were a year behind....
