Hi guys,

My car will be arrived from Uk to Mel next week.

Now I'm thinking to get the Larini rear valved mufflers and I don't think I will change the cat in the future. The question is should I go with X pipes or H pipes. I know people said X pipes with Decat will be unbearable which I can understand. But what about the X pipes with rear boxes on factory cat?

Cheers

H pipe for me. Are you going for the Decat pipes too or do you like your neighbours?

Why should the X pipe be louder than the H pipe?
There is no silencers with either option, just a different method of linking the left and right exhaust banks together, the H method the traditional way, until someone discovered than crossing the pipes produced more power, scavenging effect I believe, but louder?
Cheers

When I bought my full Larini System David said that he would not recommend the X pipe and to go for the H pipe, so I did.

That was F'ing mental as it was and had to have that silenced down a bit by Larini (they cut in 2 free flow silencers in the de cat pipes) so with the X pipe would have been stupid.

Hi Guys, Thanks for the feedback. I'm keeping the OEM cat at this stage.

Here are my options:

1/. OEM cat + H pipes+ Larini valved
2/. OEM cat + X pipes + Larini valved
3/. Larini sport cat + X pipes + OEM valved
4/. Larini decat + X pipes + OEM valved

I don't need extra horse power but I need a slightly louder sound something like Granturismo S....

I think option 2 or 3 is properly the best setup but I have never heard one myself. All the video clips online are mostly decat so I really don't know how much louder the decat is making (from experience in other cars decat does make a big different).

If option 3 or 4 makes a good sound then it is the best mod for performance I would say. Anyone here has experience in this setup?

Anyone can find some videos for any options above?

Abyss.....there is a thread out there with 4/5/6 vids as comparisons.......................but honestly better to listen to your preferred option in the flesh....what part of the country are you in?

Matt, not touching the cat at this stage unless i'm keeping the OEM rear boxes. I don't think i can handle the sound with decat and Larini rear boxes.

I've seen your video on youtube it sounds great but I would prefer a little quieter.

Initally I was after Option 2 : X pipes + Larini rear boxes. If it is too loud then I will take the X off.

so I'm now in between option 2 and 3.

2. would be my advice, the Larini valved boxes are a must.

The de cat pipe is where the performance is unleashed though.

so 2. is an audible upgrade, 4. is a performance upgrade.

My advice is, in for a penny, in for a pound. Get the Decat (with free flow silencers) H pipe and Larini valved cans, and keep your OEM link pipes.

You will be able to sell it and get most of your money back come time of sale, I did.

That's the sound I'm after. Not sure what exhaust does it have.

Sorry to sideline the thread, but I'm thinking of selling my Larini rear boxes. I'll post a thread in For Sale in the next few days.
