Hey Loz,
I would say that a train, with one of those snow plough thingies on the front looks about right...
OMG, what a state, that is really bad.
Regards,
Enzo.

Old cars....It doesn't take much to damage them...Probably someone sneezed as it drove past.

Simple...an average size american walked into it with their shopping trolly full of burgers and fried chicken!...that has a similar size to weight ratio to a Inter City 125 [just not as fast...may-be 1.25 mph], and with Newtons 3rd law on relativity you end up with a squished English sports car

The red plastic sheet over the drivers side of the car is not a good sign now is it!

I fear that this was a terminal crash for the unfortunate owner.

I find that really unsettling to look at!

Goodness only knows how that happened, but it doesn't look like it was moving? and no-one's been cut out of that cabin which, given the intrusion, they'd have need to have been.

I'd guess it was static at the time and struck by an artic. Perhaps a hard shoulder? Doesn't need speed, just need loads of inertia.

I saw this a few days ago, being a classics fan, and I used to have a 6, I saw it listed and thought "ooh!! - an easy project!!" Then I saw the pics - nasty.

I'm not sure there was anyone in it though - there would be a lot more cut away for extraction i would have thought. Let's hope so anyway.

HGV impact looks likely although the grass is curious, but who know where it ended up. The comments about old cars are certainly valid but these things have an old school ladder chassis and a lot of heavy bodywork, they weren't really designed to crumple, this took some doing.
