Hi guys.

Just had a quote for my 4 year old, 16.5k miles gts on supercarhub. Best quote was just over 1000 quid from maranello
Egham. However i was later informed that since my car was 4 years old then it also
Needed a replacement lambda sensor and carbon canister. This actually doubles
The service cost. Looking on the net, it seems these parts tend to be replaced at around
60k miles plus on most cars. Since my car only has 16k miles on it, should i proceed
With a service without these additional items? My car is on an extended warranty so
Dont want any issues down the road affecting this?

They might have you over a barrel SP...ie conditions of warranty voided if not serviced according to schedule....so need to ask the question off your dealer network

Thse are recommended replacement periods....4 yrs....I know my 4200 didn't have its replaced until 8 yrs old/58K miles with no problems

The garage is stating the Maserati interval correctly but there are loads of 4200s out there which have not had these items done - my 4200 was sold at six years old with neither having been done by me or the previous owners.

The extended warranty point is interesting but surely they can only enforce this for items which would fairly go wrong without having done this work? Personally I would phone round and ask service managers at three or four Maserati dealers what they feel.

Thanks for your help bob. Maranello informed me that warranty would only be non effectual on those parts linked
To the lamda sensor and carbon filter.

Also quite intrrestingly , in service book its recommends you to change these parts every 4 year however in the table
Schedule the "R" which signifies required replacement is placed in the 7th year. Thus 12.5 *7 = 87.5k miles.

Thus far too early to replace given car has only done 16k

I agree with you. They were four years on the 4200- albeit hardly anyone took notice - so I will check what my book says for my car.

I have timed mine so it needs the 4th year bi annual and the 12.5k mileage service at the same time in November.

I take onboard the canister and Lambda needing doing but think I will have sold it when it gets to that stage, so that will be down to the new owner to decide.

If I were keeping it, I might have passed on the Lambdas, and the first sign of any issues (of which there are none) I would change them out, I would do the canister and aux belt though, if not at the main dealer, do them myself.
