Had an excited call from Roberto at Grimaldi this afternoon
'We managed to get the gearbox to do it! As soon as we started driving!'
'Excellent! What was it?"
'Alternator over charging!"
So I said 'I am going to say "I told you so" because I will probably never get another chance'
1) The info about the P0158 I have recently posted being used by Maserati as an ambient temperature sensor in the MAF was not correct. It mean 'The alternator is over charging' The ambient temperature sensor relates to the sensor in the mirror.
2) If your external mirror sensor stops working not only can you expect your A/C to play up but your TPMS system will *also* stop working (TPMS Unavailable)
3) The gearbox will lock into fail safe mode (3rd or 5th gear) in event of the alternator over charging. This is expected behaviour and extensively documented by Jaguar.
