GT Dashcam Fitting

Good morning all. I have a Nextbase Dashcam and fitting kit I would like to put into the Strad; having had a quote from a main dealer however for this to be done @ £250 + VAT, I am now re-thinking whether this is even worth it (especially given I got the same kit installed on another car for £35 and I know Aston charges c£100 + VAT for the same work)!

Has anyone gone down the route with a main dealer at a cheaper price or indeed gone to another specialist? I am not going to consider doing it solo as am useless at electronics! Car is also still under its full OEM warranty.

On one hand that seems steep. On the other hand an couple of hours work at >£100 per hour is about right at a guess.

Personally I'd talk to a specialist or (probably) do it myself. There's plenty of space in the cubby by the driver's right knee and cable routing around the dash by tucking between the panels should be OK. I fitted a Parrot to my GT with no real issues. <shrug>

I fitted mine in the mustang , it was a front and rear , got some of those piggyback fuses found a live and plugged it in , it's easier if you buy the trim removal kits they sell on ebay if you've got anything to come off
If it's only a front camera I just went round the door rubber and up along the headlining

This type of thing , just make sure you pick the right kind of fuse

I was told by the main dealer that ANY changes to standard spec (especially if it involved splicing wiring loom) would invalidate the warranty. I was enquiring in the context of fitting the SM carplay solution.

I was also told an Xpipe would do the same.

I would go dealership route if I was you so as to avoid any possible warranty issues should they arise in the future

Ditto on both.

Hence the query on dashcam which would appear very straightforward and non-warranty impacting on any normal brand other than ours :) !

I suspect they would have a **** of a job making that stick in court, but I guess do you want the potential hassle.

And we know that our favourite company has behaved somewhat un-reasonably in the matter of warranties in times past

I would imagine you are right (they would need to prove the change directly impacted any failure) but the cost and hassle (including having my car off the road or needing to be repaired at my cost) simply isn't worth it.

And there is proof on here that I am 'on notice' of any warranty limitations.

There's surely a difference between what they can say and what they can actually enforce (unless you've had a claim rejected?). I know there was at least one 'famous' case but from memory that even had no modifications involv.ed
