As the GT cars are now coming out of warranty do we know of any inde garages that now service these cars, could make a big difference to ownership costs.

I think all the independants currently servicing 32/4200's will start servicing the Gt/Gts's .

I just did a "service quote" on Supercahub; very interesting as main dealers cam out sometimes cheaper than independants...
Dick Lovett £990+ Vat
Marenello £1200+
Verdi £1650+
Autofficina £1300+

This for a 3rd/37500 service on a 08 4.2GT

Mine will be going to Mike Roberts. I have had him service all my Masers and its been a very good and inexpensive experience. Each time I have sold the cars, nobody has battered an eyelid at it not being main dealer, they just see its up to date, and has the Maserati logo stamped all the way through.

He will do it for about £395 all in. Not sure he has done any yet, but many QP's so its all much the same and has no issues with getting the parts.

If my car was within warranty, I would use a main dealer, simply because they will replace any items that look weathered or fail under the warranty.

The GT 4.2 engine is effectively the same as the 4200 / GS, so I can't see why the indi's wouldn't take it on, and am I right in thinking the 4.7 is just a different bore, though admitedly both with different electronics?

Does anyone know whether the SD coding is the same from the 4200 / GS to the newer models?
Has anyone heard of the dealers training their mech's on the newer models or have they just had the workshop manuals given to them and been told to get on with it?

Because people buy new/nearly Maserati's from maindealers and for the first few years use them due to the warranty. Once out of this period they are glad to see the back of them due to the bad service they received and go to independants hoping for better attention.

I second that, it's not exactly cutting edge technology that the indies would be taking on, it's mostly the same as that developed for the QP's and 4200's over the course of the last 8-9 years.

Maserati hiked the price but no dual clutch or e-diff, I'm afraid!

Isn't the GT a biannual service now so the "cheaper" annual service is no longer required?

The GT is 12.5k miles or 2 years. If you do under 6.25k miles pa it is easy as the car just needs a combined mileage & time service every 2 years. If you do more than that 6.25k pa you have to work out whether to do a mileage service at 12.5k miles and then take it back just for the time service at 2 years. I guess it just depends on your exact mileage. I shall work this out late 12/early 13 when the first service will be due on my GT.
