Why will the keys not open the boot? Must've had a key change at some stage...Anyway, to open the boot manually there is a way, it's slipped my mind at the moment but I will definitely get back to you later today.

Is the key definitely wrong? The only way I know is with the key - I think you have to try to unlock it and apply some pressure on the top of the boot near the lock. For some reason, it doesnt work without applying that pressure......

If that doesnt fix it and Dicky doesnt come back with how to get into the boot, can you get some ccharge into the battery via the cigarette lighter? I know you can get some chargers that work that way.

Good luck, keep us posted.

Tha nks so far
car is a GS LE 2007 and came from Meridien in august 2008
keys probably have been changed as key will go in lock but will only turn a fraction ,have had no reason to try before
no *** lighter in car ,but is 12 volt power point on console ,is this the same for
trickle charge ?

ys are not original as will not turn in lock, han no reason to use them before apart from ignition, must have been changed at some time

I doubt you have the wrong key. Apply pressure downwards on boot lid above the lock. As you do this gently try and turn key,

I'd go with this. I tried mine recently and they were very stiff! In fact, it took me a few minutes to get the key out after playing!

Beat me to it, had same problem and solved with WD40. Keys can be notoriously stiff and can almost break rather than open manually.

Better than wd 40, dip the key in some silicone grease and insert key into the boot lock 2/3 times and work the grease in , Wd40 is only a temporary measure Peter and will eventuially dry out , , preventetive maintenance my man you have been ticked off ,

On my 4.2 spyder there is a plastic trim around the lock and across the boot above the number plate. This also contains the rear no plates lights. There are three cross head screws whcih hold this on on to the boot on mine. They dont match so may not be standard. Remove screws and you can feed some cable out and let the trim dangle if you are carefull. Get a penlight and look into the aperture this reveals on the LHS. You will see a bowden cable and a lever which is part of the lock mechanism. The lever is operated by the lock rotation wihich pulls the cable which releases the boot catch. If you have long fingers you should be able to reach in and lift this lever up, this will operate the cable and open the boot. If you have short fingers (I have big hands!!) then you will need a bent coat hanger or a long allen key to hook into the flap and lift it up.It took me about 5 mins once I'd figured it out. If the cable is seized then you have a a major problem. Usually it is the lock barrel seized so the above trick works. Take the opportunity to dismantle it and give it a good clean and relubricate it.

Remember to press down ******* the bootlid whilst doing it.

Brunel, great bit of advise, the only issue is it highlights how to break onto the boot.

Welcome by the way, what's your story/car???

its a 4.2 spyder 2002. I hydrolocked the engine (in the Middle East!) and have just put another engine in. Its in the main agent to have the new clutch set. They tell me it needs a new F1 ECU, it has the later ECU fitted and they are N/A in Italy. Just trying to figure out the next move....
Yes its easy to break into the boot but you cant get much in there to steal and with a soft top all you need is a knife anyway...
