GS not selling

Lokks a pretty decent spec and very cheap . Any idea on the mileage???
Was advertised in Nov with 68k on it.

Its not far from me and it's crossed my mind to go and look at it. The only thing I can think is that the miles are a big problem. The last I've seen with comparable milage (74k) went to auction and then was at a trader for £20k....so I suspect with 68k on, its overpriced.

Cheap way to get into a GS though IMO.

If those miles were racked up cruising up and down the motorway then 68k should not be a problem. With correct servicing these cars can do a lot more than that. What is important is the state of the rest of the car and from these pics it looks very nice.

Sorry, just to clarify, I dont think the car will struggle with the miles, i just think it'll struggle to sell with the miles.

Here's me car. Here's a few photo's (nothing interior mind you) and here's me extensive description / sales pitch.

Wonder why it's not selling?

And that with a high miler (not that that's a problem)

Maserati Gransports seemed to have slowed. There have been some crackers on Piston Heads that have been there for ages. Perhaps it is just a sign of the times and the impending budget

I spoke to the guy a while back to ask about the mileage and yes, it's at about 70k. It is at the mileage point where if you buy it, you'll have to run it in to the ground, as it will not be worth anything once you Start knocking 100k. I don't think anyone really knows what they will be like at 100k. Is there one known to have reached that?

Agree Miles. Another advert that just doesn't sell the car even though a couple of the pics do make it like OK.

Predator there are 3200's that have reached that kind of mileage. Whilst high mileage is a big put off if it achieved those miles without being thrashed and having regular servicing it will probably run just as well as my Gransport which has done 11,000 miles. He may have to drop the price another couple of thousand. Now at £20,000 keep the car say 3 years and even if you only get say £12,000 when you go to sell it that isn't bad for depreciation. Having said all that I am one of those who never keeps cars beyond 40,000 miles unless it is a appreciating recognised classic like my old 1968 Mercedes 280SE coupe.

I just think that it is very difficult to sell one of these cars privately when there are so many gems at the dealers for a few grand more.

One thing I have learned about Maseratis is that cheap can mean expensive in the end.

100k on a car these days isn't an issue as long as well maintained, but would agree that selling on could take a little longer...You just have to look in the classifieds at the 3200's with over 80k on the clock that have been sat there from while.

Sorry guys I have to disagree, the miles will be an issue as they are with mine.

He is after 23k now, yet there are ones with 1/2 the miles at 26-28k, I know where I would put my money.

My 4200 has 65k, and a huge history file with in excess of £20k of service etc, I know I will be lucky to get 14.5k for it today, even less on a trade in. So do I want another one with higher miles when I come to replace it?...no, I'll stick to lower miles and not be stung too much with the price drop three years down the line with another 30k on the clock...If I went for this it would be in excess of 100k and I would struggle to get 8k as per the 3200's on the marked with the same miles.

This car is for someone who really wants a GS but can not stretch to 25k plus....In real terms he is after 22k but I sure he would have a good think about 20k to 21k....If you haven't got the extra 5k then it would be tempting but you would have to run it intot the ground..Ithink 18k is more like it...Remember the red one a few monthe ago with high miles at a dealer up at 19995.

Thats the one I was refering to Andy. It was up at Porsche Nottingham for £26k with 74k miles on it. Went to auction at Belle Vue (Manc) and appeared at a trader for les than £20k. Working backwards, what would it have acheived at auction, £17k? Indicative for this one perhaps....so as said above, fair price would be what, c£18-19k?

I would have thought 15k/16k at auction..the dealer would need 4 to 5k in it to make it worth his while..warrenty, px, profit, etc

It's good to know there are sone 3200's that have done 100k plus. It looks good for both the 3200 and 4200. I've never seen one but that may be because the owners prefer to just keep them. Thanks for letting me know guys.

John there is one of our own selling one on Piston heads with 120k on the clock plus a few have come up with 80 - 90k on over the last few weeks. They will be fine as long as they have been looked after.
